I think that all you might need is the original Earth cfg file, not the whole original install. I keep an original Orbiter setup on a backup drive just in case I need to reinstall something.
The only thing I can think of is that there may be a conflict with another addon. Sometimes the MFD selections you have can cause conflicts as well - the STS 2016 will not need all of them you have installed. Your second install is probably the best route to go - I have 4 separate installs for...
Works better now - just a few minor things:
- STS-72 was Endevour not Atlantis,
- the gas cans should be closed at launch
- the PLB and RMS lights should be off at at launch
I get this when I use Ctrl-2 on the SFU:
============================ ERROR: ===========================
SFUPANELJET...
The scen runs and looks great - but I get 2 error messages:
============================ ERROR: ===========================
Mesh not found: .\Meshes\STS_PAYLOADSNEW\SFUPANEL2.msh
[MeshManager::LoadMesh | .\Mesh.cpp | 1238]

This should work - It took me awhile to figure everything out - you will need the new missions from Gattispilot's STS2016 and files associated with them.
Have you tried starting the default scen in cockpit view and then waiting 10 seconds or so. I find no issue with it if I do this. The default Shuttle seems to need to settle into the pad first in my program.
