    Gaming Microsoft Flight Megathread

AND THERE IT IS! - the bucket of shame has been dropped! congratulations M$ - you have shot yourselves in the foot so hard it blew off your whole leg and with that - Flight dies a horrible death while still in the womb.... this absolutely proves my most dire concerns were true -...

    Gaming Microsoft Flight Megathread

that's exactly what the voices in my head keep saying.... this whole "pay for content" scheme feels very much greedy and prone to end up being a way to have us shelling out heavy bucks for what once was an integral part of the experience.... if they go that way - i'm not following.... M$ be...

    Gaming Microsoft Flight Megathread

from what i gather, their so called "freemium" business model is basically a demo with more relaxed restrictions.... i wonder how user-end addons will be supported -- for me that's the make-or-break point, no addons, no buy :nono: tho i suspect they wouldn't dare be THAT thick as to limit or...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

i think it should pay for itself over a small number of launches.... with the ground support fully set, a G42 mission would cost something closer to the operating cost of an airlner (actually, more like a handful of them combined) than that of a shuttle launch.... plus, like the skylon, it...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

i don't expect my fuel assumptions to hold, really... i think it's safe to say that ain't good 'ole hydrogen in those tanks, that's for sure  i did use a few settings on the higher than the best currently available side.... but not so far as to be "magic" that doesn't mean it's an...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

well, this design was indeed based on some tripped-out crossbreed betwen the concorde, the XB-70 valkyrie and the skylon.... i figured that's what a spaceplane would end up looking like.... i wanted it realistic, so i parted from the initial DG-based concept and started pretty much from scratch...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

well, got the lights all set out now - turns out there WAS a way to do it without reinventing the wheel... good thing i decided to ask before going any further down crazy avenue  i still have plenty more lights to add - tho most of them don't really move from now on... and i wanna...

API Question MGROUP_ROTATE usage with vectors?

right on! - that hit the nail right on the head  didn't know we could do that, very convenient  thanks, man! - that was great help

API Question MGROUP_ROTATE usage with vectors?

quick question... is there any straightforward way to reuse the transforms for animating mesh parts to transform simple vectors as well? i need this to reposition the wingtip navigation and strobe lights on my G42-200, which has wings that are capable of hinging up and down... can it be done...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

well, legally i'm not married yet (coming soon) - but for all practical effects, me and my GF live together as if we were indeed so :hmm: yet every now and then i can secure me some "able time" (i call it that to distinct it from often unusable "free time") - and get some stuff done on the...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

a general flying tip - unless you're planning on spending some extra time in turbine-powered low speed flight (a plane intercept leg, or ATC clearance maybe), you can safely take off with a less than full main tank also, without any cargo, you could even do without a full oxidizer load as well...

    New Years Eve 2011

well, happy new year! that was a mostly decent approximately-full orbit of our little ball of rock 'round the sun.... but i hope the next kludgefully stretched one will be even better - so best wishes to all and may the probe be with you on every reentry

API Question Custom Displays (Please help)

well, then you're in luck - computers are pretty good at basic math  if you wanna have something at half way across horizontally and one third vertically, all you have to do is set x to half the width of the display and y to the height times .3333333 there's no need to call any...

    News My Brother Is Dead

My condolences, RIP Voyager :salute: i've experienced death in the family a few years back (grandfather) - and i can tell you, it's something i would not wish for anyone :( deepest sympathies, to all who knew him closely :flowers:

i'd like to think someday most of those switches will have some effect, or at least look like they actually do something :hmm: well, more on the news side -- as of today, all the eicas screens can be toggled on/off and can be set to any of 12 display modes - the config of all six panels is...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

thanks! speaking of functionality, i did just get the eicas screens (Engine Instrument and Crew Alert System) panels to switch between different display pages :woohoo: that was the biggest hurdle the project would require in short term - mostly because i didn't know exactly how i'd...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

well, thanks! it makes my day when i see ppl are having a good time flying it - i mean, that's what i made it for (and to get some hands-on C++ practice going) anyways - next release should feature a more concise engines simulation, one that keeps true to a...

    Project G42-200 StarLiner

minor progress report.... APU now consumes fuel - i'm underway to actually having it serve a purpose higher than the "just noise" currently featured :hmm: ramcaster pumps are no longer electrically driven, (switch has been repurposed to "fuel transfer" function) - ramcaster fuel is now...

alright - guess who is off the clock up 'til the monday after new year? came in a good time too.... you know, even we mad-scientist game programmers need a break every now and then (which ironically, i seem to spend programming things for games :shifty:) so yesterday, i did...

Put a face and name to O-F members' pets!

i should probably post up some pics of my newly-arrived lil' critter.... the only thing is i only have a couple of shots of her being asleep - since photographing puppies (with phone-camera, to make things worse) while they're awake only yields useless blurred images... when i get a decent one...
