    Why is faster-than-light travel 'impossible'?

Omg, more washing machine fun. And I thought going past the lightspeed barrier was all about giving the Arrow freighter insane thrust levels and installing Goa'uld inertial dampers to compensate for the 1,200G acceleration :)

    glide re-entry question

Indeed, fuel efficiency is not really a priority, if the XR5 with fuel modules in the payload bay can have as much fuel as suspension of belief allows (ground pressure of a tricycle landing gear with 1 kiloton vehicle weight is a different matter). Apologies in advance for derailing the thread...

    Humor Random Comments Thread

Ahh, I see the point, thanks for the suggestion :3 I have dieted recently until I got low blood sugar warnings so I did lose a fair amount of pounds, so now I'm working myself back into shape. "Reactor scram" is not the healthiest dieting plan but it works for what I intend to do.

General Question Prefered folder structure for add ons

I always follow the current trend of folder naming, so as to prevent root Orbiter directory clutter and also to prevent "false" installations. Although manual inspection of install files is always prudent, I do get annoyed when the addon is unpacked and the files are located in...

    glide re-entry question

Thanks for refreshing my memory Urwumpe, it's much appreciated :) Blunt body - I'm reminded of the XR5 with its surprisingly "plump" design. Last month I wondered if that wing design would ever survive supersonic (much less hyper-s) flight because the wings don't fit into the Mach shock cone or...

    glide re-entry question

I think the premise of doing a 40 degree AoA re-entry is to distribute the heat across a larger surface area of the vehicle. Correct my limited understanding of exo-atmospheric flight if I'm wrong, but it might be more efficient to have a craft fly a "skipping stone" type flight profile on the...

Poll What kind of washing machine do you have?

I have had two different types of machine. One, during the 90s, was a huge and heavy top loading Thomson. It was a very dangerous appliance with a vertically spinning metal drum with its axis perpendicular to the machine (just imagine a meat-grinding version of a hamster wheel in a steel box)...

    Question Orulex for 2010P1

Doesn't work? What kind of error does it give you? I'm running it on integrated graphics, even. Note the basic 1.2 version is functional in 2010P1. The more advanced ones with collision detection are apparently, buggy.

I can either have a carbohydrate heavy lunch, or a protein heavy lunch. Which is the lesser of two evils?

VSA - v149th Flight Training Squadron

Don't worry about the timezone Nazban, I'm in GMT 8, there are players in Europe (GMT 0-2) and also the US. Thought to see if anyone is interested to coordinate timings so I can offer up planning for cooperative missions :3

    Request SOS Scenarios

I have got to try that out. It's like some some of my redneck pilots saying "yeah lets try adding 200 more tons of cargo for better profit margin". Would love to try and RTLS the thing later with all 800 tons of cargo. Or would you freak out and dump them all in the sea?

Support Orbiter Multiplayer Support Solved Orbiter 2010

You can try putting Orbiter on the list of "allowed programs" in your firewall software, if simply forwarding the port itself doesn't work. Once UDP synchronisation takes place time acceleration will be close to normal.

General Question Changing The Color of the Earth ?

It's possible to modify the contrast of the textures but be warned there are A LOT of terrain tiles. Poke at the Textures2 folder and look for the earth_ textures :) If you can find a program to batch-modify the textures' contrast and brightness all at once your problems are solved, otherwise...

    OHM Florida Keys Marathon Airport

Brilliant, great to see more real airports. So we can fly in from Neptune and start to play FSX on Earth :) ---------- Post added at 05:45 ---------- Previous post was at 05:35 ---------- There appears to be an issue with the DG at Marathon start location. The base is displayed correctly...

    OHM Florida Keys Marathon Airport

Nice and clean, just like all addons should be. I hope the runway is realistically sized? Oversized = no fun :3

VSA - v149th Flight Training Squadron

Update on the above - I did some homework. We -CAN- have cooperative flight training in OMP without getting into anyone's way. All it takes is some good organisation and updating people on what we need in advance. Hope to see you in the skies one day!

OHM Orbiter 2010 Mars Face Upgrade

I inquired in addon development forum - it's fine to upgrade airports, and stuff like that by giving them better textures, etc, but please link to the original addon for the meshes instead, if you wish to use their work. Redistributing is a no no without the author's consent. It's understood...

    Orbiter Forum Lunar Station

The idea of having two separate missions in each "phase" of OFSS is going to be quite interesting in my opinion. If you're going to use limited advanced tech then it may be possible to have two persons active in the same mission through scenario sharing. One player launches the payload on a...

You know you're addicted to Orbiter when...

My ultimate orbiter addiction related event would be getting a HOTAS purely for Orbiter so I can fly like an Su37. Thrust vector, hover and active CG control is much easier with all the buttons :3

    Orbiter Wiki Cleanup

I have some expertise doing research on and revamping automotive related wiki articles. I also like to finish up incomplete wikipedia articles, or proofread them, provided the article is within my knowledge base. Although I don't work in an aerospace related field I'm pretty good with flight...
