ORBITER-FORUM will be temporarily closed at 2026-07-23 18:00 UTC while we complete some OF maintenance tasks. The amount of downtime is expected to take up to one hour, but probably less.
It feels slightly off, because you just know that humans sufficiently drunk to have such a miserable awareness of the locality of their opponent don't do spinning kicks anymore...
Probably not? Maybe? The thing is, this is my first forray into mass social media. I really have no idea what I'm doing. I didn't do twitter, or facebook, or whatever. So I got to get my feet wet somehow. It might just be prejudice, but I have a feeling that Mastodon would be more complicated...
I made a bluesky account, because I hear that's what one does nowadays.
I don't really know what I'm doing, though. Or what you're supposed to do with it, for that matter.

That was definitely this year, so after the transition. While I've heard several takes on the topic, wikipedia claims that some are/were indeed using token expenditure as a metric for productivity. So yeah, horrible idea it is...
I have just yesterday become aware of the term "tokenmaxxing" and that it is (or at least was) a thing in the industry.
And now I am completely baffled. The main (and wrong) hype around AI is that it could make human labour redundant (it can improve labour productivity in certain areas, but the...
And there's another update. Integrated the prometheus graphic from earlier in the thread, tweaked a few things, and fixed some bugs.

First of a series of introduction videos I'm doing leading up to the demo. Because I don't have the money or skills to do an actual trailer. Also because the gameplay doesn't lend itself that well to a trailer...
Possibly helpful to people that are wondering what the game is about, or for people...
Prometheus is finally done!
Originally an orbital thermal solar powerplant, it got wildly and chaotically turned into a refugee camp by bolting existing smaller stations to it because it was the only place that could provide sufficient power to consolidate all those people in one place to...
I wouldn't quite say that. It worked well enough for the Falcon.
I think the problem is that this beast is just simply too big and too complex. I believe with current tech it might be impossible to put such machine under that much stress and expect it to reliably work a second time...
So, starship planned boom, booster unplanned boom, I gather. Any word about how much damage starship received from re-entry? Because that still seems like a main concern to me when it comes to reusability...
Thanks for your kind and encouraging words!
Yeah, I've been thinking about that off and on. One problem is that there's some weird scaling issue in libgdx that I hadn't had time to look into. sometimes letters get truncated just a pixel or so. But it's not the font, in other places...
New update! This one is all about character development, introducing a trait-based progress system that also introduces hard goals for the first time. At the current stage those goals are a bit rigid and generic and mostly focused on things you need to do anyways to survive the early game, so...
That too I guess, though as far as I can tell it's far easier to make orbit from where they are now than it is to bring this thing down without getting chewed up... But yes, getting to Orbit and then back, I think that's where I'd start with damage simulation tests and stuff...
I mean, those are good things to test, but wouldn't you first want to have a successful prototype that performs nominally? Even though they brought some back for landing, they were essentially charcoal by the time the atmosphere was done with them, wouldn't you want to improve that before...
I agree there's plenty of useful applications. I've just not seen any in the realm of image generation yet, unless you consider an army of Waifus useful...
