Update (obsolet) Public testing of OrbiterSound 4.0 (3D)

Dan, Some of the links are broken on the documentation. Specifically, you are missing the mix sound components.

MFD Attitude MFD right handed Equatorial Edition

Agreed. I would love to see an MFD that utilizes the M50 coordinate system and could be used for the Shuttle or other spacecraft requiring said system.

New Star Wars movies confirmed (NO SPOILERS!)

People forget that there is one reason why Star Wars is changed ever so slightly and why Disney would choose to extend the franchise. It is because people (myself included) will be more than happy to consume the crap. In the end, it is always about the money. By the way, I grew up in the...

Project Space Shuttle Fleet Orbiter Operations Guide

All who are interested: As of today, I am shutting this project down. I will explain further, but before I do, I want everyone to understand clearly- I do not blame anyone but myself for not researching further and reaching out to the add-on developers beforehand. I was even warned by one of...

Question Universal Pointing MFD Inertial Attitudes

Ah, of course. I had to sleep on that for it to sink in completely. The Yaw Axis is at the ecliptic versus equatorial, everything would be offset. Thanks again for the explanation.

Question Universal Pointing MFD Inertial Attitudes

Cras, I understand what you are saying now. You manually take into account the attitude, and then adjust your P,Y,R based on the offset at the equator. To make the wings level to the equator though, you would need an OM 90 to LVLH though right basically a prograde or retrograde orientation...

Question Universal Pointing MFD Inertial Attitudes

Thank you very much SiameseCat. I think this answers my question. All inertial attitudes should be suspect with Universal Pointing MFD. This is not based on the author ;) - rather it is based on an Orbiter limitation.

Question Universal Pointing MFD Inertial Attitudes

Cras, On Universal Pointing, the engine that drives it is the same as Attitude MFD. Is the M50 the same as the 1950 inertial attitudes? I seem to recall that there are three separate types: 1950, 2000, and TOD. TOD would be the most accurate, based on the way things are today. 2000 would be...

Question Universal Pointing MFD Inertial Attitudes

SiameseCat- I tried this with two separate scenarios: The first pic is with the Endeavor on Orbit Scenario. The second pic is from the flight deck in the STS-2 On Orbit Scenario. I have the same result. Also, isn't the Vernal Equinox between Omega and Iota in the constellation of Pisces? The...

Question Universal Pointing MFD Inertial Attitudes

I had a question around how the Space Shuttle handles inertial attitudes around Universal Pointing MFD. I almost have this figured out, but need some help. In Wikipedia, I read the following regarding the inertial frame: If the goal is to keep the shuttle during its orbits in a constant...

Project Space Shuttle Fleet Orbiter Operations Guide

First Tests today of the Ascent Checklist on the Blackberry Playbook. Here are my impressions: Checklist takes some getting used to in the editor. It displays width-wise, and requires a bit more scrolling than I would have desired. Checklist is very readable otherwise. Font size seems good for...

Project Space Shuttle Fleet Orbiter Operations Guide

Your wish is my command: You are half right. The Checklists are done in Excel while the Operations Guide in in Word format. The whole purpose in doing this is so that the guide gives detailed and "gee-whiz" information about the procedure. The abbreviated checklist is done in Excel Format...

Update [obsolet] OrbiterSound 4.0 - dev thread

Dan's been busy. That means a lot of new fun soon! Does Orbiter Sound 4 support customized sounds based on altitude? You know I have long requested this for enhanced Scenario development. Cheers,

General Question How to decrease the distance between the planets?

True that! The collision model for the Mars size planet that hit the Proto-earth that you see on popular Universe shows is below: The problem would be in rendering all of the impact material. Besides, I think Orbiter has a spherical gravity model if i'm not mistaken

Advanced Question Orientation for the SBS satellite launch using Universal Pointing

It can be very expensive to make an FOIA request. If I recall correctly, they quoted about $60 per document, and I assume they mean $60 for the launch checklist, and $60 for the Post Insertion Checklist, and $60 for the mission checklist etc.... I understand where Shuttle Fleet Dave is coming...
