TransX Possible glitch? Planet sphere solid white.

I'm also having this problem, nvidia card, with the stock transx. Tried the transx built for 2009, but it complained about a missing dll call. Can't see the white plane intersection line or my orbit, so there's almost no way I can take off and hit the correct orientation. This is really annoying.

SDK Question How do you get the vertical acceleration?

Ah, great. That's just what I was looking for! I wonder why it's not part of the standard functions?

SDK Question How do you get the vertical acceleration?

Is there a way to directly get the vertical acceleration of a ship?

    AeroBrakeMFD Can't change reference AoA?

Definitely NOT just the XR2. I can't change the reference AoA within the stock DeltaGlider either. Thanks for the tip about the COG. However, I can obtain satisfactory results with the AoA control loop. If you didn't know, the controller is a PID controller whose parameters you can specify in...

    AeroBrakeMFD Can't change reference AoA?

The XR2's autopilot cannot do an inverted re-entry due to the bank angle limitation (+- 60 degrees?). Right or left shift gives the same result. The XR2's autopilot is not on, but maybe still somehow is intercepting keystrokes? I guess I would need to try it in the DeltaGlider or something to...

    AeroBrakeMFD Can't change reference AoA?

This is Orbiter 100830. Shift or no shift, the AoA reference change isn't working. Just to be clear, I am talking about the AoA/bank control loop for Aerobrake, not the one on the XR2 itself. The Aerobrake version number is 0.96.1.

    The XR2. Also, I'm in Windows 7 64-bit.

    AeroBrakeMFD Can't change reference AoA?

After setting the reference AoA, you used to be able to change it with Shift+Num8 or Shift+Num2. Now that I have upgraded to orbiter 2010 and Aerobrake 0.96.1, it seems I can no longer do this. Is this a glitch, or am I the only one?

Play and fix this free return

Awesome. Why exactly must non-spherical gravity be on for IMFD to work? Also, why doesn't the correction burn work as I expected? Again, I tried hitting "AB" again when the burn vector display said the remaining dV was about starting to creep upwards, but when I clicked AB, all the numbers...

Play and fix this free return

You were absolutely right. I ended up reducing the flight time to 80-something hours, and got a much better trajectory. However, immediately after the injection burn, the map showed my moon perigee altitude to be increasing at a rate of about 2 km/s. After it got around 3M, I pushed "AB" again...

Play and fix this free return

This is the XR2. I launched to get into LEO, then thought I could set up IMFD to do a free return with the moon. I was wrong. It seems no matter what I do, I can't get a free return trajectory that returns close to earth unless my perigee altitude above the moon is over 2 Megameters. I would...

Video: High Alt. High Spd. Flight

You know, all I ever wanted to be was a commercial space pilot. Consider this my resume... 47lksSseMWA XR1 launch was from KSC 33. Lifted off and pitched past vertical then rolled to the correct heading. Used scram after mach 3.5 (the video doesn't show this). I settled out at about 1900 m/s...

Question Upcomming scenario requires 20 tons to Mars first

If you have trouble finding a spacecraft that can get 20 tons into a path to Mars, it might be easier to launch the tanker into LEO then launch another craft to dock to it and apply the extra 4,000 m/s it would take to get it to Mars.

Hypersonic Flight Recording - No Scram?

I recorded a short hypersonic flight of me in the XR1 from Cape Canaveral to Habana. However, during playback, the scram engines don't light up and their throttle levers don't move, and the apparent amount of scram fuel doesn't change. Is this a known thing? Too bad... it was a fairly cool flight :(

    Flight from Habana to KSC

The way to do it is to try to maintain 125-150 m/s during the final stages of landing by changing the pitch of the nose. If you're unpowered, I think usually keeping the nose between -20 and -10 degrees usually does it. If you're powered, you can use the engine to keep your speed up while you do...

    Flight from Habana to KSC

You don't need the hud. You should have had the Surface MFD up while you were landing. One reason is to look at the altitude and velocity, and the other is to keep an eye on the vertical rate of descent as you touch down (so you don't break your landing gear on impact). If I remember, 150 m/s is...

    Flight from Habana to KSC

Usually gear fails because you are going too fast when you open it. Only deploy your gear in the last 20-30 seconds of your flight when you are going slowest. Normal airliners only deploy the gear during the last 2,500 feet or so.

    Slingshot to slow down.

Yeah, so how do you time your departure from Mars correctly so that the Moon will be in the right location for you to do the retro slingshot?
