Lewis Hamilton maintained his advantage in Saturday afternoon’s final practice session at Sepang, but unlike in FP2 it was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who emerged as the world champion’s closest challenger and not Mercedes team mate Nico Rosberg.

I couldn't see all of it, but once again we were robbed of a direct duel between the Mercedes drivers in lap 1. Good drive back to the front from Rosberg with some VSC help, pretty dominant race from Hamilton until his unfortunate engine failure. Really unlucky this season.

Once again a completely stupid penalty for Rosberg, I have seen the exact same move including contact into turn 2 a few times before, but without penalty. If the technology isn't on Hamiltons side this season, then the stewards are certainly not on Rosbergs side.

For some reason Max Verstappen won Driver of the Day. Maybe I missed his brilliant move, but I would have given it to Jolyon Palmer today. Alonso and Rosberg would also have been good candidates.
