25 years ago today, on April 24, 1990 at 12:33 UTC, the most iconic telescope in space ever was sent into orbit, beginning a dramatic yet ultimately fruitful life as the flagship of all on orbit telescopes ever. Today, it continues as the most sought after telescope for astronomers.

Not sure why no one mentioned it here. She's now 30 years old (2 days ago)!

Ever wonder what did HST see on your birthday? Check out the link below: :)

(I have been busy handling some family issues for the past few months. My apologies for the leave. It's only after I realized the new igel's and asbjos's historical add-ons that propelled me back here. I am in the midst of cleaning the spaceflight news forum, so you would expect to see some threads merged together.)

My dad did the patch for this one, the original artwork is in the attic I think. Way before computers/photoshop. Anyway, it’s awesome to see HST still going strong after all these years, here’s to many more!

Hubble makes surprising find in the early Universe [heic2010]
3 June 2020

New results from the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope suggest the formation of the first stars and galaxies in the early Universe took place sooner than previously thought. A European team of astronomers have found no evidence of the first generation of stars, known as Population III stars, as far back as when the Universe was just 500 million years old.
