Problem AFCS reentry plasma

Is there a way to get the plasma while using AFCS. Having done hundreds of reentries, none of them had the plasma effect. Am I doing something wrong or is it normal?

EDIT: Is the pull-down menu of Alt Speed Dist Trajectory in the AFCS menu affect anything?

Well, the thing is due how Orbiter renders re-entry flames, that if you do a proper Shuttle re-entry then you will never see any sort of re-entry flame effect.

If you want to see re-entry flames you need to do a more abnormal re-entry, steeper with harsher deceleration. Not a realistic Shuttle re-entry.

The drop down menu you are talking about gets its information from an .ini file found in the modules/plugin folder. You can edit this to set different points it will try to hit. There is another version of it that can be found on the forum, I think it is also on the Hangar.

There was also a thread a while back about a more realistic implementation of re-entry effects so that a realistic Shuttle de-orbit can present realistic re-entry effects, but as it stands now, you can have both. You either fly a realistic re-entry, or you fly a re-entry that generates re-entry flames.
