Gaming Any IL-2 Sturmovik fans?

Yes, me, I have the game, and I have a mod that gives you helicopters.
However...
Err...
The AI flies the helicopters as if they were PLANES...
And they kinda crash >_<
 
This might be an old thread, but I just bought this (IL-2 1946) on Steam, and I can't wait to play it :) I'm gonna have to wait until the weekend to download it though.
 
I'd recommend UP3 if you intend to mod it. It should have just about any fixed wing aircraft from the 30's/40's/50's that you could want. I personally favor the P-80 Shooting Star.:)
 
Yup, I'm also using UP3. It brings a lot of new features to IL2, for example AI on DF servers, or refueling/rearming on airbases with supply lines, radar and much more.
It's a must have!

Sorry if it's been asked already, but what's the best way to find online servers for multiplayer? If I'm right, you need to know the IP address of the host?

Oh great :) Something to do this evening in the boiling heat.
 
It is your flight commander telling you "to keep up" in as many words. Each mission has a set of way points you are expected to fly via en-route. i.e. this is the way the AI is going what about you!!!

So now people will have to choose between ultra pack and 4.12 patch?

At the I stopped playing IL-2 in 2011, there was a lot of tension because Daidalos Team patches and many mods were not compatible. Anyone know if that stuff has been fixed?
 
Oh yeah, best combat flight sim ever. Used to play with voice coms with folks from all over the planet.
 
Few a mission late last night for the first time in a while. Holy crap, the German voices are intense. Landing with a group of 20-30 aircraft becomes a real headache as they spam CLEAR FOR LANDING! and ABORT ABOOOOOOOORT!!!
