Scenario Emergency-HELP-ISS SSRMSD Failed to Work

Hello,

This is an emergency case. Please help me as soon as possible. I plan to use Falcon 9R v1.2 to launch Dragon for a real CRS mission. however, before that, I need to download Dragon dll and Canadarm as listed on the Add-on hanger page. I succeeded in downloading both add-ons. Before I can launch F9, I plan to try docking with the ISS using the RMS/Canadarm.

However, when I start with CR6 apprach to iss scenario, things go badly. I seem to orbit around the Sun with irrational orbit parameters. I checked the Orbiter log file and here I see the the problem.

Now, the problem is with the SSRMSD. I don't know how to rectify it. I tried reextracting the zip folder of Canadarm to replace the files in the Orbiter distribution folder but still to no avail.

Hi,
you should be able to install Canadarm2 v4.0 in the same way as the Falcon9R v1.2 - extract the .zip file to your Orbiter2010-P1 folder, preserving directory structure.

Hi there when select the Canada arm is it visible in the exterior view bet it isn't its not Orbiter have you got Norton Internet Security it does not trust the Module .dll I had the same problem it was working then there was an update and suddenly it didn't work it keeps uninstalling it you need to right click on it and change the settings from Norton security to Trust app then SSRMSD will work. its the only .dll I've ever had this problem with

yeah just checked your log again and it can't find it you'll install it and then Norton will delete it right after so Orbiter can't load it once you check its security to trust it'll stay put

Hello. Thanks for all of your kind replies. Before proceeding, I would like to clarify my situation so that you can understand my predicament better. I plan to demonstrate Falcon rockets to my classmates and school teachers during my school's annual science and maths fair.

Actually, I want to fly F9 to the ISS with Dragon to simulate a real(albeit fictional) space trip to the ISS. However, I am still not familiar with the ISS Canadarm. So, I decided to start off with a scenario that simulates Dragon approaching ISS rather than from the beginning of the flight of F9 from KSC.

The problem is with the SSRMSD. I even tried downloading a clean ZIP version of Orbiter 2010 and reinstall the 3 add-ons in the test version. Yet, still to no avail.

Now, you can spot the difference. I only installed 3 add-ons as stated by brianj on his F9R V1.2 add-on webpage in the Orbiter Add-on Hanger. There are F9R V1.2, Canadarm, and Dragon. Also, the other vehicles like Dragon and ISS in the scenario works fine. When I hit F3 to select them, they are still there. I mean Dragon is just below ISS, in a position ready to be captured, but the SSRMSD is nowhere to be seen. It is "orbiting the Sun". Can you help me to find out why I fail?

To BrianJ,

I am a fan of your Falcon rockets add-ons. Other scenarios of your add-ons, like launching satellites to LEO, SSO and OG2 real-world launches work fine. No problem. Only when I tried using Dragon1, a separate scenario folder, not under you F9 scenario folder, the SSRMSD fails.

I think the above scenario txt file should provide you with ample information. I am not familiar with screenshots. But I can describe the situation. It is like the dark space full of stars keep on turning about the center of the screen. When I hit F1 on the keyboard, the orbital parameters are ridiculous. You can see for yourself by pasting my "current scenario" txt lines and save it in your Windows Notepad and finally save it in your Orbiter's "scenario" folder and play it using Orbiter. You should notice that SSRMSD is "orbiting Sun" rather then Earth in my "current scenario" txt files above.

I don't use Norton Security. I am using Windows 10, so I use the already-included Microsoft Security Essentials. Do you mean the SSRMSD.dll file in the "modules" folder of my orbiter distribution folder? i scanned it using MSE and the result shows that it is not harmful, so definitely haven't stop it from running properly. I am pretty sure it is there, in my "modules" folder. So, can you find out more clues from my newly posted txt file lines?

make sure your MSE security isn't blocking the SSRMSD.dll (in your Orbiter/Modules folder), or that you don't have to run it as administrator.

If that's not it and you are not getting any error messages about msvcp120.dll (see OF thread I posted above) then you could try using an older version.

Attached is a .zip containing only the SSRMSD.dll from the Canadarm2v3.0.
Unzip into your Orbiter folder as usual and overwrite the old SSRMSD.dll.
Run the original CRS6 scenario. If it doesn't work, you can reinstall the latest Canadarm2 v4.

However, I still wonder why my Orbiter cannot accept the version 4 SSRMSD. Can you tell me why?

Addendum (off-topic): Please update your Falcon Heavy thrust value for all stages. They don't tally with the values displayed on SpaceX's official website.

I don't know, but looking at the other thread about Canadarm, seems it might be a Windows-version dependent problem. I'm using Windows8.1 and both Canadarm versions work for me.

Addendum (off-topic): Please update your Falcon Heavy thrust value for all stages. They don't tally with the values displayed on SpaceX's official website.

Work is in progress, but there's quite a lot to do - changing the thrust and mass also requires tweaking the ascent and orbit algorithms, booster stages flyback and landing needs updating,etc.etc.etc.
Actually, I've given it a test with the SpaceX website values and the thing is a beast. Even with 53000kg payload, it screams off the pad. There isn't much of a gravity turn, and MaxQ is a bit painful! I think it's only going to work if I throttle the Centre stage right down to minimum when the pitch-over starts. We'll see

HI Nickolas its definitely your Computers security I had exactly the same problem (if you install Canadarm V3 it will go back to working).. the problem is with the MODULE .DLL Windows keeps uninstalling it for some reason it doesn't trust it unzip it somewhere then go in to modules find SSRMSD, right click on it and go through any security you have I'm trying to remember what I did, (but it could be in properties) and look to make it trusted then it will work properly and you can use V4

The FH core sinks in Orbiter 2016 beta, but looks normal in the current 2010 version. Please take note.

To hutchison66, I can't find the module.dll in my downloaded Canadarm v4 zip folder. Which subfolder is the module.dll located. I searched for it under several folders like textures, config, meshes and modules but to no avail. Please tell me the actual module.dll location so that I can try out your suggestion.

I have found another problem. The Mobile Base System and Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator is missing on my ISS. So, I could only move my Canadarm around Harmony Module (IDS-04, if I recalled correctly). Where can I get the MBS and SPDM? Do I need to download the additional add-ons listed in the last page of the manual of the Canadarm add-on?

SSRMS Module

Hi Nicholas, the Module your looking for is SSRMSD.dll you'll probably unzip it and it will be in the modules folder then when you run Orbiter your computer will delete it and it'll disappear from the folder before you run it right click on the SSRMSD module go down the dialog box till you see Properties at the bottom of the box that opens you'll see Security
it says "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer" beside it says Unblock you need to click on this to get it working you can then run Orbiter and it'll be fixed and won't be deleted

No, David, it fails. I have unblocked all files that comes with the original Canadarm v4 folder. It still didn't work. The original SSRMSD.dll of Canadarm v4 is over 100kb whereas the SSRMSD.dll given by BrianJ is just 85kb. I don't know why.
