Well, there’s been a changing of the guard. Red Bull, Ferrari, Alpha Tauri, Alph Romeo, and Haas appear to be in ascendance. Aston Martin, McLaren, Alpine, and Williams, not so much. Mercedes clawed themselves to the within the top 3. It remains to be seen if their R & D can keep them there. The new rules have certainly shuffled the deck. Now lets see if these cars really can race wheel to wheel!

Well, it sure does look like the 2022 redesign has resulted in closer following which is leading to real wheel to wheel racing. It was in evidence up and down the grid. The Alpine on Alpine and Red Bull - Ferrari battles were great. It seemed like much of the coverage looked at overtakes rather than the front of the grid. There was excitement everywhere! I’m thinking regardless of your favorite team, closer racing bodes well for the fans(y)(y)

Miami Grand Prix

Miami International Autodrome, Miami.

06 MAY - 08 MAY

"
George Russell was fastest in Friday practice at the Miami Grand Prix in Mercedes' most competitive showing by far this season.

Russell was 0.106 seconds quicker than Ferrari's title leader Charles Leclerc, whose rival Max Verstappen suffered reliability problems for Red Bull.
Verstappen failed to set a time while team-mate Sergio Perez was third, ahead of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes.

Fernando Alonso was fifth fastest for Alpine, from McLaren's Lando Norris."

Charles Leclerc led Carlos Sainz in a Ferrari front-row lock-out at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

The Ferrari drivers jumped ahead of Red Bull's Verstappen as the world champion's final run fell apart on the circuit around the Hard Rock stadium.
The Dutchman made an error at Turn Five, running wide, swearing on the radio as he realised he had messed up.

Red Bull's Sergio Perez was fourth ahead of the Alfa Romeo of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes."

Didn't see it and broadband failed for a week. British Telecom phone service, repeat the same fault to their infinite number of call-centres and you forget your name.

Whew, what a race that was. Ferrari threw it away a bit with a baffling strategy for Leclerc, think he could've won without that mixup but at least he finished the race for the first time.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc took his sixth pole position in eight races this season with a scintillating lap at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Leclerc saved the best for last with his final lap, beating Red Bull's Sergio Perez by 0.282 seconds.

Perez beat team-mate Max Verstappen with his final lap, by just 0.065secs.

Ferrari's Carlos Sainz was quickest after the first runs in final qualifying but a series of mistakes on his final lap left him fourth.

Leclerc continued his status as Formula 1's qualifying king this year, despite errors on his key laps in the first and second sessions which had held back his ultimate potential.
