Bug Frame Rate Drop UD-4L CHEYENNE COLONIAL DROPSHIP V0.06- frame rate drop

Hi Everyone! This is my first post on orbiter forum. I have been using orbiter 2010 & the DX9 client for many years now. I am having a massive frame rate drop issue with the most recent version of the drop-ship. At the start of the scenario, the drop ship is illuminated by a orange glow. When this happens the frame drops from 60 fps to about 6 fps. The same issue also occurs when any ordinance is used. Previous versions of the dropship were not effected by the frame rate drop while the DX9 client was active. The dropship suffers from no graphic corruption when the DX9 client is not active. I have included pics see attachments. I tested my orbiter install on a virtual pc and on my other laptop and the same issue occurs.

My orbiter install:
Orbiter 2010 P1 & DX9 Client
Latest versions of Ummu and UCGO

My PC:

Corei7 720qm geforce 230m 8gb of ram
GPU has latest drivers. Net Framework and visual runtimes installed.

Other questions
1. Can orbiter be run on an external HD without a performance loss?
2. My orbiter install suffers from periodic frame rate drops from 60? Any ideas what could cause this. I run orbiter for with no other programs running for maximum performance.
