Meshing Question Generating UVMapper Classic Texture Map

After posting on the Anim8or forums, I was directed towards UVMapper Classic for Windows. I've tried applying their tutorial to my rocket, but something's not quite clicking. It's probably something stupid and simple given my currently rock-bottom serotonin levels. Once I've exported to OBJ and have the rocket in the program, I've separated the individual groups out, but where exactly do I go from there? How should I arrange the groups?
I'm freaking depressed, and freaking confused.

Hi Zat,

i am exporting the mesh group by group and rebuild the model in anim8or again.Create a texture map by box, planar aso. whatever is better. There is a function "background picture" in UV-mapper so you can simply arrange the texture map. It is a lot of work but it is a good solution for me.
