Before tackling the Orbiter core, it may be helpful to start making an addon. Walk before running.
There are good documentation and examples in the "Orbitersdk" folder.
This will help to get familiar with the Orbiter API and its objects, like vessels.
Maybe pick a spaceship of your liking, make a simple mesh and then bring it to life with your code.

Before you dive into development, I really recommend you to learn using a search engine or the search function of a forum.
