I have installed the microtextures provided by Jarmonik here
http://users.kymp.net/p501474a/Orbiter/Orbiter.html

I tried some moon scenarios but this is what happens:
As soon as the scenario starts I get a weird sound from my PC (I believe it comes from the graphic card that "kicks off") and the video signal is lost (monitor blanks).
If I start the scenario with a very wide FOV it runs, but as soon as I zoom in towards the terrain I got the same problem.
Could it be my Graphic card cannot hold the microtextures? it seems strange to me since it can handle very complex and deatailed sceneries in FSX (of course with a drop in FPS)

I run Orbiter2016 in D3D9, resolution 1920x1080 60Hz.

My computer specs:

Intel Core i7 860 @2.8 GHz
RAM 8 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti
Windows 7 Home premium 64bit

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

I have never heard of a problem like that before. Micro texturing does require unusually high Texture repeat counts, I don't remember how high exactly, but so does a normal mapping of the water surfaces.

D3D9: MaxTextureRepeat.......: 8192

What about Mars, Phobos and Deimos ?

The LOS sounds pretty serious. It's very hard to start guessing of what might cause it. A faulty transistor in a texture repeat counters ? driver problem ?

If you value your hardware then it might be better to forget the micro-textures. The next LOS might become permanent.
