At the start of the press conference they said it didn't work during EDL, but maybe they had a surprise for later
Yeah, I expected that one of those microphones was cursed like the previous attempts to land on Mars. But thats really great to hear.

BTW: Linux and ffmpeg are now on Mars. Orbiter should be next... to simulate Earth in there

With the hi-res pictures to come we're going to need lvl 50 surface textures and entire buildings to house our hard drives ?

We do it like Microsoft Flight Simulator and push everything into the cloud.

Which means you will also get updates for Mars everytime a Mars rover photographs something new. ;)

(Technically speaking, this would just require a massively modified graphics client and a masterfully crafted platinum credit card, that menaces with spikes of masterfully worked adamantine.)
