Hello

I discovered Orbiter about a year ago, and decided to give it a go. I never really got the hang of flying anything other than the delta glider, but I have recently decided to try again, and I had a few questions...

- What are some good resources/tutorials for someone new to space flight?
- What is new in the beta versions hosted on sourceforge (compared to 2006).
- Any recommended add-ons other than orbiter sound?

And, more importantly, I just wanted to introduce myself! :)

Thanks in advance!
Mike

Go play in space is an excellent turtorial and a good read

Download them and have a look at the patch.txt, There is more in there than I'd want to post here.

Well..... Depends on what you want to do but do have a look at www.orbithangar.com and at the recommend addons section here on the forum.

And, more importantly, I just wanted to introduce myself! :)

Thanks in advance!
Mike

Hey Mike, I've been flying around for about the same amount of time. And here is my two cents...
Go Play In Space is absolutely the best thing to get you going, the only thing it doesn't touch on is re-entry, and for that do a search for Oceanic's video tutorial on using AerobrakeMFD and BasesyncMFD (these MFD's help me tremendously).

Another thought...
Something that's helped me sharpen up is/are the missions for the OFSS (Orbiter Forum Space Station). You can find these at OrbitHanger, and mission 21 should be out soon. The craft mainly used are the DGIV, XR-5, Shuttle (which I'm not very good at recovering yet). I've also had to learn to fly the Progress, so I've been "forced" to learn new things. It's worth you taking a look.
Happy Orbiting!

Hi and welcome. Feel home. We're fairly normal folks here.
Except on Saturday nights when we dress up as superheroes and romp around town.

Well, only some of us do that. :whistles:

Thanks everyone! I just finished a clean install of Orbiter: 2006-P1, so I will start reading Go Play in Space later today.

Thanks again!
Mike
