Hello, I recently removed Orbiter 2010 and tried to install Orbiter 2016. I tried both the MSI and the ZIP, and they both say that the file is corrupted and I cannot extract. Can somebody please help me?

Welcome to OF!
Looks like you have a corrupt download and have to redownload it.
How many Gbs is your file? Did you try to check its hash?

I'm having a similar issue. I get files that are 2.4 gb in size... the page says 2.5 but maybe it's just rounded up. I used ZIP Repair to "fix" the file and was successfully able to extract everything but something called Tex.tex or something like that and the Launchpad will launch normally, but orbiter crashes on startup saying something generic like "unexpectedly quit"

edit: downloaded the zip from http twice and the same issue each time, I'm trying the msi installer now even though its not my preference.

Edit 2: msi file simply creates a small dialog that says extraction failed, file corrupt

dang! I'm so bummed right now I've been waiting since this came out for better internet connection now it's not working!!

The 2.4 GB size problem rings a bell:
Do you store the ZIPs onto a FAT(32) formatted drive?
FAT can not store one file that big!
You have to store it on a NTFS (for example) drive.

EDIT:
Sorry it was 4G for Fat32 ...but maybe this leads to a root cause anyhow ;)
Sorry

UPDATE: RESOLVED FOR ME (NOT OP)
I noticed that two of the mirrors I tried were the same server, (us mirror 2 & 3). I tried Mirror 4 (Altea) and it worked great no problems

weird... it unzips only 126 MB that seems wrong!!

UPDATE:
okay so the "repair" only allows 126mb of files to unzip.

Well, the archive is EXACTLY the right size according to the download page and the properties box... hmmm

@statickid: I don't know what kind of "repair" you were doing, but a ZIP that has not the correct content is very unlikely to be repairable.
The (ZIP)-file size is not a good indicator, as some clients (web-browser) first allocates the needed Disk-Space, so that the file-size is immediately O.K. although no real data has been stored yet.

The only thing that guarantees that the ZIP is correct is the hash-sum (md5sum)!

Just for the sake of interest the "repair" was basically a program that can find as many intact files in a corrupt zip archive as as possible then it repacks them into a new zip that is usable. It's really more of a recovery tool but i didn't know what else to try.

Anyways, the files from Altea worked great and O:2016 is way more amazing than I ever hoped! I can even see roads around my hometown and some other random identifiable pixels. I'm very impressed with the elevation model I can easily find specific hills and peaks. I can't believe it! amazing!!! It gives me a better feel for how big the lunar mountains are!!! really fantastic
