I haven't noticed this yet (maybe missed it) ..
What is Orbiter's world/universal reference frame for all objects.. Sun, Galactic centre..?
:)

Orbiter inherits its coordinate system from the vsop87 theory. It is a solar system barycentric coordinate system with equinox and ecliptic of J2000.

Thanks.. it helps if I do some searching in the tech docs

Thinking long distance... it'll be nice to have a galactic frame (we can stick to one galaxy for the mo :) ) , as this will allow new systems and worlds to be created - spark people's imaginations on new drives and systems.... that I'm sure Nasa and other agency's could benefit from.

Cool Idea! One issue would be that Orbiter uses Newtonian mechanics and it would need to simulate relativistic effects to enable one to get across the galaxy in a realistic manner.
