Hello everyone,

I have recently downloaded the Skylab V4.8 addon for Orbiter from simviation and everytime I try to start it up orbiter freezes and I get the error message "Orbiter.exe has stopped working" There isn't anything in the orbiter log (not that I can understand what those say anyways).

Also, when I try and run the AMSO version of Apollo missions and fly the flights using the Saturn 1B I receive this message in the orbiter log

What does this mean?

thanks for any help you can give me:)

It says Orbiter can't find Launch Complex 39 on Earth. Have a look at the release notes for Skylab to see if you need to install a specific Cape Canaveral add-on.

I checked the manual for AMSO and found nothing about launch pad 39b requiring to be installed. So I tried reinstalling the entire package and I still get the same message.

I have no idea what I need to download or how to change the launch pad in the scenario folder so I don't know how to make it work

AMSO certainly does have its own launchpad. But from my recollection, it is all included in the package. AMSO is a standalone add-on, just install into a clean Orbiter and you should be good to go.

What it looks like is your Saturn stack is saying it is located at a base called 'LC-39'.

Change it to Cape Canaveral instead and then adjust the location until it is sitting on LC-39A.

How do I do that exactly? I am not the best at programing:rofl:

post the scenario file (the .scn file which is in the scenarios directory) and someone here will advise on exactly what to fix.

I assume I just allow word to change the file then simply edit the line? Is it that simple?

I assume I just allow word to change the file then simply edit the line? Is it that simple?

For editing scenarios yes. It's a simple text file. Use any text editor you want, as long as the extension remains the same (.scn). Notepad is simpler.

Find the line "BASE LC-39:1", delete it and give it a try. Don't leave a blank line. Example:

Original:
Code:
S-IB:Skylab1973/Velcro/S-IB
STATUS Landed Earth
BASE LC-39:1
POS -80.561506 28.522777
HEADING 270.00

Correct:
Code:
S-IB:Skylab1973/Velcro/S-IB
STATUS Landed Earth
POS -80.561506 28.522777
HEADING 270.00

Wrong:
Code:
S-IB:Skylab1973/Velcro/S-IB
STATUS Landed Earth

POS -80.561506 28.522777
HEADING 270.00

When you post your Orbiter.log file or a scenario, use
Code:
 tags. It makes reading them easier and doesn't take up that much space.

Hope this helps
:cheers:

It worked for a few minutes then it crashed.

It froze up and I got a windows warning saying that orbiter has stopped working :(

Just to be certain, you are using this on a "vanilla" Orbiter installation? Meaning new install with sound (and/or UMMU)?

I've taken a look at my Orbiter for AMSO (along with Skylab) and I've only got velcro with velcro Saturns, and Shuttle fleet installed along with it. I've also got SC3 and multistage, but those are just there, not being used.

I'll try a new install. It's gonna take a lot to reinstall AMSO, shuttle fleet and a few others because it took me a bit to find them.

---------- Post added at 11:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:14 PM ----------

I reinstalled everything that was working before and got this message this time.

Module Skylab.dll ............ [Build 110918, API 100830]
>>> ERROR: No vessel class configuration file found for:
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> ERROR: CMG
>>> [Vessel::OpenConfigFile | .\Vessel.cpp | 252]
---------------------------------------------------------------
>>> TERMINATING <<<

I am using Velcro rockets but I cannot remember the name of the other type. do I need those too?

I also tried launching ASTP V4.8 and it froze the program. I got not message in the orbiter.doc but I got the same windows notification

These two addons are required in the readme of Skylab v4.8:
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5351"]CMG v2.0[/ame]
[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5363"]CMGmesh v1.0[/ame]

Hang-on, I've got to give myself a facepalm :facepalm:
I confused what you were doing, I started checking my Apollo era Orbiter and got into Skylab 1980, not Dave's Skylab Fleet. I'll see if I can work it out tonight.

I installed an earlier version and it works. Now is there a way to create a new scenario where the CSM is close to docking with the Skylab?

Is there a scenario creator that is so easy to use a baby could use it?

Thanks for the help thus far everyone, nice to know there are nice people online:thumbup:

There is the scenario editor. You activate it under modules on the launchpad. It is listed as 'scn editor'.

When in orbiter hit ctrl-f4 and it should be in the list.

I have downloaded a few scenario editors but like almost every addon I put into orbiter it doesn't work.

but Skylab is working, and that is good, only problem is I need to ride that Saturn 1B all the way up after waiting 13 minutes on the launch pad. Oh well, good practice for docking. Thanks again everyone:thumbup:

Just to mention, I have the same issue as the original poster, having done a brand new clean install of Orbiter on a new kick-a$$ computer at my (own!) business :) But I figured there must have been something wrong I was doing, and was shameful given that I'm no novice at Orbiter ... I managed to get a little farther by creating a spacecraft2.cfg file in the config/vessels folder... still have many issues with 4.8 stuff from Dave413 ...

Wrong Dave! The author of Shuttle Fleet/ISS Fleet and other Fleet add-ons is David413.

Sorry, I shall correct my statement ... I'm very tired watching over an exam tonight. Apologies, don't sue me for diffamation :cheers:
