Hi forum members.
I,m new with Orbiter so maybe it,s just my mistake and has nothing to do with the simulator but i´ve been searching for what to do in threads, posts, tutorials... and i still don´t understand what´s the problem:
As the title reads when i open Orbiter the "scenario tab" is empty, all seems normal in the other "pages" parameters, video, extra... are like should be.
I´ve tried installing over and over again (Orbiter 2006, 2010...) and following what tutorials say but the problems persists, i,ve even downloaded in 2 different computers but nothing works.
I have downloaded from this page http://orbiter.softonic.com/ i dont know if that helps but whatever:lol:.
Please i would be very pleased if you could help me.
By the way i´m spanish so please forgive my posible gramatical mistakes.:tiphat:

Doesn't sound like a official orbiter mirror. The German Softonic is just pretending to do any service for you, maybe the spanish one is different. Also they have the license and copyright wrong. orbiter is not by Medphys (the department of medical physics of the UCL is just friendly to host the official homepage and pay martins for his non-orbiter science work), also it is not GPL software.

Also your error sounds like you have the folder structure wrong, did you unzip it incorrectly by not having the folder structure from the ZIP file extract properly?

EDIT: Softonic doesn't give you the proper original ZIP files, but they turned it illegally into a self-extracting exe installer with a lot of their names in it. I would say, that counts as malicious.

Make sure the working directory is correctly set to X:\Orbiter (depending where Orbiter is installed).

Since this packing Orbiter into a installer to also drop a few toolbars and other advertisement stuff on your PC for making money is not compatible to orbiters license, I would say martins should deal with it directly.

thefreakwatcher: Get your Orbiter from the official download sites and stay clear of Softonic, for the sake of your PCs health.

I've had this problem when calling orbiter by command line, instead of clicking the executable (or it's shortcut)... I've got glovePIE handling joystick input for me, so I thought it'd be a good idea to have it call up orbiter as well, so opening both is a single click... But when I set GlovePIE to call up orbiter.exe, I got an empty scenario list :P

No idea why it happens though...

Cheers

Because of working directory being different than Orbiter's. In a shortcut, there is a field for working directory, which should point to the same folder as the orbiter.exe is located in. External programs launching other executables may change their working folders, and this could cause the scenario list empty even if the shortcut had Orbiter folder set for the working directory.
