Nice work, Woo! The blue is perfect! One thing about the DGIV skins, though. All text and graphics are mirrored, so when you place anything with text on your layers, you need to flip it so that it shows up correctly on your skin. The belly emblem is a good example, the UN is mirrored. Also, for future skins, remember that the DGIV takes whatever graphic/text you place on the fins and mirrors it so that it appears on both sides of the fin. One side will be correct, the other will be a mirror, so it limits you as to what things you can put on them. Keep up the excellent work!

I wanted the The logo of the United nations to mirror on the fin

That looks good, too! It's a nice example of a logo that works when you put it on the fin. Any logo that has text on it won't work though. If you ever start doing work on the XR-1, the skins for that one don't require you to mirror anything, and there are seperate surfaces for both sides of the fins. I've sometimes forgotten which ship I've been working on and got my graphics mixed up:sorry:

Nice skin but......... the UN logo and anything related has to be allowed to be put on objects other then the UN so that means that you have to get allowence from the UN for that.

I dont think they will mind me using this its not like I am selling it

I will just remove the download links so can you shut up now ?

And has ever someone asked for permission to use the NASA logo in Orbiter?

The NASA logo is subject to http://www.nasa.gov/offices/ogc/ip/logo.html which seems to imply it's use in Orbiter is not allowed, but I've seen in other places on NASA's page in the past where it's allowed for educational purposes. That may be an endorsement of Fair Use Doctrine. See: http://www.copyright.gov/fls/fl102.html and particularly http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ21.pdf which pertains to educators and students.

Orbiter is unarguably an educational tool, and neither NASA, UN or any other logos seem used out of place. I think you guys would be in the clear based on Fair Use Doctrine, but 1) I'm no lawyer and 2) I don't know how Fair Use applies to non-US intellectual property.

Woo482 I think you can safely link it back again. Somehow I dont think the UN will mind you using their logo. Just my opinion mind. Im not a lawyer so feel free to shoot me down. :)

UN Resolution 44752361577753254.

From the UN Security council to all persons with the "UN DGIV Skin"

Prepare to receive a statement that some members may wish to start a motion to begin discussion, on a possible discussion to permit sanctions against you, if you'll allow it. These sanctions could include, time out, a sternly worded statement, being told“bad” and possibility of the threat of more statements. Also Woo482 is now the UN chairman on copyright infringement.

Well said, Coolhand! Woo, ignore Marceng9, if the UN were to get angry about it (which they won't), they can't realy do anything. They can't come and kill you, if they sue you, the case will be trown out of court. And if not, then you could ask them why they aren't suing Wikipedia.

Wait, I'm going to go check the copyright page for Wikipedia's use of the UN logo... Ok, nothing there, but, I would think that flags, insignia etc are all concidered public domain. Mate, if they get their nickers in a twist (assuming that they even know of this DGIV skin, I would say that they don't even know of Orbiter), you can always take it down.

On an semi-related note, a while ago I spoke (pmed, rather) with DanSteph. He seemed a little distressed that none of these skins were being uploaded on the page he specificaly set up on his website for that. He said that he might even take the download section down off his site if it wasn't being used. I would think that it would be an incredible loss if that happened. Do you think you could start to upload the skins there instead?

I would say use it. I think it would be illegal if you say, painted on your car. And im sure that country's would be in mega poo if they sent troops into a warzone under a false U.N. flag.

In fact given the range of nationality's on this board i think having a U.N. skin. Im sure the orbiter community would actually fit quite nicely into the UN mandate of international co-operation.

My two cents anyway.

People should upload there. At least as long as Orbit Hangar has no section for skins. Wish they did have that as a section because skins clutter the spacecraft section when you are only there looking for spacecraft and not skins.
