No: on the desktop side of things i5 are quad-cores without hyperthreading. On the mobile side on the other hand both they and (most) i7 are dual core with hyperthreading, while desktop CPUs sold under the name "i7" can have up to 10 cores.


I need to keep it up on these things. Sorry.

However, don't hurt doing what I should had did before to avoid a wrong buy.

On the 4th Generation, there's a Desktop i5 model that have two cores, the i5-4570T .

On the 6th Generation, all Desktop are 4 cores/single thread. But on the mobile land, some are 2 and some are 4.

In the bottom line, it's better to check on the Intel site the exact model you ar buying.

4 cores single thread have a better performance than 2 cores hyperthreaded.

Hm, didn't know about the 4570T, so thanks for that! :) Yes, in general just saying "i3" or "i5" is useless. It's like saying "I drive a VW Golf" without specifying the generation and variant of the car/CPU.
