Sorry if anyone tried to run a session this saturday; I was on the road and virtual flying while driving is probably a bad idea ;)

In other news, this conversation just took place in the Free Flight lobby not five minutes ago:

Ycnalc: what one do you suggest
Roscoe_P: what are you looking to fly prop, jet, are you knowledgeable with ATC?
Ycnalc: wats atc
Obmit0: air traffic control
Ycnalc: prop? wats that
Obmit0: turbo-props
Obmit0: you know
Obmit0: dash-8's etc
Ycnalc: sorry i dont know these things
Obmit0: ummm
Obmit0: Saab 340's
Obmit0: ATR's
Ycnalc: well props sound good
Obmit0: slower planes
Obmit0: Jets are the faster ones
Ycnalc: sorry, i mean jets
Obmit0: and...?

Looks to me like someone (guess who) really should go fly the single-player lessons before moving to multiplayer.

Legendary. Tutorials usually exist for a reason. o_o

If anyone is interested, I'd like to try to run a tower on a short little flight. Just PM me if you're into it and we'll figure a time/date.

GMT 0215 tonight? (2115 EST, 2015 CST)

I'll try to be there. Whoever starts the session, be sure to name it starting with "Orbiter" or "OF" so we know who we are ;)

Is it available for non-Acceleration users? I don't see the server. I'm running Flight Simulator X SP2 (non-deluxe).

So yeah, that was fun. Apparently it was the end of my mic tho...I tried to go free-flight afterwards and didn't make it very far since the tower couldn't hear me, and i'm not going to be all lame and type everything out. I tested it in Ventrilo and indeed--my mic no longer works. I ordered another but I won't have it for another couple weeks. Sadness.

In other news, y'all should totally get mics.

In other other news, in the future, I propose that Cobalt be the navigator and I'll be the pilot... *remembers the CRJ700 doing a backflip and falling out of the sky right after takeoff*

That was NOT my fault, nor any indication of my piloting skills! That was your fault! Yeah!

I think the new session keeps the last session's trim settings, and I had no clue that it did that.

Sorry to budge in on you pilots, but can you guys go to this site;

http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_fsx_home.html

...and test your system.

Does it show any of these images?
and what FPS are you running at?

or which one of these?

I get the same result you do, and my FPS varies. But if I turned off all autogen, I'd have a huge framerate. Where its at now I go between 15-80.

Okay, the Cessna thing may have been my fault since I put us on the wrong side of the airport, but the CRJ thing was definitely not my fault since I wasn't even anywhere near you. Heck, I wasn't even looking at you at the time, I was taxiing into position for runway 26L (i think) and as I straightened out I saw you plummeting out of the sky. Definitely not my fault.

The desktop I run it on was listed as 5. It's usually pretty smooth but can be choppy sometimes when loading. Checking FPS for you...

Apparently the "standard" measure of FSX FPS is running the Sitka Approach: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-gpu-upgrade,1928-10.html

At 1280x1024x32, Trilinear, no AA, with all settings at Ultra High, I was running around 12-14 FPS on average, with highs (when i wasn't looking at anything) of 17-18 and spikes of 1-2seconds occasionally. Those aren't the settings I normally run at, though.

Switched back to my "standard" settings (which include air traffic turned all the way up, which wouldn't affect the Sitka Approach but in free flight can cause spikes) and ran the approach again. It didn't look anwhere near as pretty (man, those water effects are awesome at max) but it was between 25-30 fps at first, down to around 20 as i turned to final. Absolutely no spikes though. Now that I've seen what the ultra high settings look like, I can't wait till Jan/Feb when I'll be building a new computer... *drools*

I'm chalking that one up to "aircraft malfunction."

I believe the sim was hosted by an Acceleration user yesterday, and I was able to use the server without Acceleration. I'm pretty sure that any non-Acceleration FSX users can fly with Acceleration users if they have SP2.

Btw, if anyone wants to fly right now, I can probably join. :)
