I recall Mystic's Dream by Loreena McKennit[/URL] was great for space opera type RTS games. I'll try this one day while playing orbital search and rescue in OMP :3

Certain songs by Globus (Preliator and the other one I used for my XR5 "ascension" video) are also very good when you are in the mood to light up some engines of ginormous propulsive force.

I have a new one... it's the one from the "Visit Scotland" TV adverts, for any UKers who might recognise it. Although what you don't get in the advert is the heavy electric guitar breakdown in the middle!

Okay, found a space related song in my Ronnie James Dio collection. It's called "Time to burn".

I recently found a particularly adventurous piece of music by Panu Aaltio titled "Interstellar Travel". Take a listen, if you like.
Myself, I think Deepstar 2 now has it's own theme song.

YouTube - Crowning Music of Awesome: Panu Aaltio - Interstellar Travel
Myself, I think Deepstar 2 now has it's own theme song.

Very Epic and Grandiose. Sweeping! All encompassing!
This could be a real contender if we were trying to select a theme song for Orbiter.
Where can I get a copy? I mean a high-bit copy..

Ohh right from his website, a moderate-bit-rate vbr file free to d'l, and more scores.

I scanned all 17 pages for "Godsmack" and didn't see it ... so hopefully this isn't a repeat.

Godsmack - Moon Baby

A great song to hear on the way to the moon.

Sing along:
Let's take a blast to the moon baby
I sit around wishing you well
how I'm craving you, yeah!
Every time I'm near you
I always wanna swallow you down
I'll be right here if ya' need me
In my life, I'll need you here, don't ask why
I'll never disappear
why is it everyday that I feel the pain?

Let's take a trip to the stars far away
where were you when I was down?
Staring into the dead
my pain is caused by my pleasure
my soul mate lives in your body
I can't get you out of my head
It never goes away
In my life I'll need you here, don't ask why
I'll never disappear
In your eyes you can bid me farwell
but don't ever try to understand the situation
why is it everyday that I feel the pain?
It always comes when I least expect it
when I'm looking for love
always seem to be regretting it
Why is it everyday that I feel the pain?

I take my chance to advertise a community of electronic music composers and musicians who create lot of music that feels related to space travel. In addition, they offer all of their music completely free, so you can just go at the website and get the .mp3 or .ogg files and use them in whatever way you want.

Now, greet Tunguska Electronic Music Society!

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG3iAh-C5as"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG3iAh-C5as[/ame]

The community named "Tunguska Electronic Music Society" was created by several musicians and composers on the threshold of centenary of the Tunguska phenomenal catastrophe, in order to capture the public attention to such an extraordinary event.

To speak in one of the community creators' words,

Sometimes you just need to pass out. To forget, to fly away, to disappear from our reality. Vanish into something light and airy, unobtrusive and kind, inspiring and warm. Our environment, the whole society with its tempo, pressure and troubles turns every person into a typical building block, spiny and sharp, fragile and lifeless. The wall made of these bricks grows in geometrical progression and collapses regularly, burying not only moods and mindsets, but also fates and sometimes even lifes.

There is no better way out of this stress than having a sip of a favourite drink while listening to the proper music. Tunguska Chillout Grooves might be not the best door to another world, free and bright, but at least it is within your reach. This music is the key to the calmness and other planets, to the discretion and waterfalls of feelings, to the riot of nature and the magic of great oceans. Just immerse... and travel to another world...

Maybe You are interested in Atlantis and Tunguska phenomenon, in short stories of Bradbury and Asimov, as well as we are? Maybe you've ever heard of Kasantsev, Belyaev and Strugatski brothers? Maybe you are worried by the secrets of dolmens and the Naska desert? Are you attracted by paths of Machu-Picchu and the shadows of Mayan Pyramids? Maybe Santorin invites you to dive and the old lady Moon calls for you to fly away?

Our music unites all of this: the charm of flight and the excitement of discovery, sadness of losses and the joy of birth, secrets of the Universe and individual planets, the infinity of galaxies and wild beauty of the Nature. This music is composed only for You and our Planet. It doesn't seek after yellow press rating or half an attache of uncovered paper money. This music is what we are. This is our thoughts, our dreams, our aims and our guideline. Our music - as well as our thoughts and dreams - is absolutely available and free.

Georgy Litvinov

Despite turning just into 3rd years since foundation, Tunguska Society's music is already recognized in the world, they are represented today at all leading media-portals of the planet. The music also can be heard at:
1. German technical museum in Munich.
2. Store chain "Fozzy" at the Ukraine.
3. Store chains "OBI" and "IKEA" in Southern Germany.
4. TV channel "Academy" in Odessa.
5. Several tens of chill-out bars, restaurants, cafes, fitness-salons and entertaining centers in Italy, Greece, Croatia, Spain, Germany and Russia.

They have many distribution channels, including Jamendo, Twitter, Facebook, Discogs, Youtube, Vimeo, MySpace, and Last.fm (find the links on top of their website). Below I give links to Jamendo, because it's the resource I got their myself from, but you may pick the most convenient way to get the tracks for yourself.

Also, streaming audio is available at: http://stream1.radiostyle.ru/play.php?pltype=m3u&media=http://stream1.radiostyle.ru:8001/tunguska

They produce new albums every few months and today the number already grew to 16. Here are the ones present at the time of posting:

When ever you miss your target, by a million miles or so, make sure, you have this one, on your speakers...
