Hello Mr. MJR, it's nice to be working with you again! Here is a link and a picture to Atlas C with the Able upperstage:

All that needs to be done is take the Able upper stage from the Thor addon, modify it, and attach it to Atlas B, since C and B are almost identical.

I don't see any Thor addon. I can make an upperstage though.

Check if he has a profile here on the forum and email him so we can use the cap.

Okay, I will do my best. It is an old addon, and I hope he can be of assistance.

I don't think he's registered because his name did not come up. And it looks like Thor was his only addon, unless there was something else on Avsim. Looks like we might have to make our own.

Yeah. We might have to make our own.

I also can't find any links to the Able, either. If you download the Thor addon, though, you can see how it works.

There's an e-mail contact on the addon's read-me:
Gene A. Kennedy
AKA TechHistory
[email protected]

Anyway, don't see much harm in reusing material from an addon if proper credit is given. In this case, there's nothing in the documentation that indicates against it.

Thank you, Mr. 4throck! I can't download it because of my computer virus protecion malfuntion, but I suspected something like that was there. I will email him now.

I will start configuring it tomorrow and have it ready sometime this week.

That's good to hear. Are you sure you will be "Able" to do this (get it?)? I hope this won't be a bother for you like last time.

This one is easy and I don't got much at all to do. Just finishing the umbilical and that's it.

Okay, great!

Also, something just came to mind. We will need a new guidance file, won't we? Is there a tutorial for creating them? I would sure like to know how.

Here are some preliminary textures for Atlas C, very much based on Mercury-Atlas. Latter I can improve them, perhaps texturing for a specific launch (that's why there's no number and just the C)

For Atlas B I think it's very similar to A so I didn't do any special texture for that.

They look very nice!

Good news: I got permission from Mr. Kennedy to use the Able upper stage. He said that it needs adjusting with size and texturing on the inside. Other than that, it will need new fairings. I hope this won't cause any trouble.

Thats good to here. I'll get to working on it.

So let me get this straight. The Able upper stage separates and it has an engine to propel it. Then the two fairings on the top release and the ICBM jettisons as well?

Yes. The Able stage is from the Vanguard Missile, VERY simple mojo.

Exact timings should be around somewhere. Many satellites had been THOR-ABLE or THORAD-ABLE launched.

Does this cap separate with the Able stage or does it remain on the Atlas stage?

Now I just need to find out what ICBM it uses.

Looking at the Vanguard drawings, the interstage adapter remains with the Atlas.
