And why can't you make it smaller? Earth-sized would be fine. Also it would keep an atmosphere, since we have one.

Actually Gliese was an astronomer who devised a classification system for stars. The planet is called Gliese 581 g, being the 6th planet (starting from b) discovered in the planetary system of star Gliese 581.

Anyway, just make up a planet similar to Gliese 581 g with less mass. Willing suspension of disbelief goes phenomenally far in the realm of sci-fi.
