(This is why, when I make my fictional M-III rocket, it will be all-methane. The M-III will have a wider core stage, like the NGLS, which allows it to have even wider fairings)

Can't wait to see that.

In other news, ULA has wisely added two more naming options for the NGLV; Vulcan and Zeus.

Vote for Vulcan dammit! Zeus is too generic, and I think we should commemorate a certain someone.

Only one of those names is a truly logical choice, meaning that there is only the illusion of choice, but only one answer.

100 votes cast for Vulcan! Dang it now i need to find a way to cast about 200 more to counter act my previous votes

Oh I just realized, [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcain"]Vulcain[/ame], although this could be solved with something like a disambiguation header on Wikipedia, especially on the French version:

Vulcain (moteur-fusée)
Vulcan (fusée)

It remembered all my votes on the same computer. Cookies I guess. So when I re-voted for Vulcan it overwrote all my GalaxyOne votes.

Since ULA is a fake company (ie. shotgun wedding between Lockheed and Boeing) and this thing looks like an Atlas V derivative, does that mean Lockheed Martin will actually be the ones building it?

I need to see a real good picture of it before I can really choose, and I think that Vulcan should be reserved for a different rocket, so I voted Zeus.

IMHO, the names must be:

Delta V

or

Atlas VI...

Titan V, Thor II would also make some sense...

Jupiter could've been a name for the SLS.
I'd go with "Nova"...

Saturn VI, Neptune... :hmm:

The ULA is going to announce the winning name along with other details of their Next Generation launch System, at the Space Symposium at Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the USA, on April 13th. In addition to the name and "details" perhaps meaning specifications, there will be a model on display.

There will be a webcast(more info at the link) but it might be media only.

It will be live on ULA's website. The problem is, um, some SoCal aerospace company has decided to schedule their next ISS supply launch (nevermind this isn't the main focus point for everyone either) right through ULA's announcement press briefing (this one will run between 20:00 and 21:00 UTC with the launch in question at 20:33!)!

Don't forget that today's also the day for the official announcement of this new rocket! While there's some time clashing involved, I still can't wait to see the details of its design. :jiggy:
