Aren't there generic software mouse->joystick solutions out there? What would be wrong with one of those?
A software driver that you install which presents itself as a joystick, but uses mouse input to drive that virtual joystick input.Can you be more specific, please?

Oh, I thought the question was for Orbiter, which only runs on Windows.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if something similar existed for Linux.
Moreover, I am running an Orbiter under wine (linux), and I am not really spending much time with it because I am a student.
