I thought I would kick off this M6 classic up here.

  • You make a scale size DG out of LEGO (guilty as charged)
  • you press T on the computer when impatient

You know you've been playing too much orbiter when you fall off a barstool and bounce into orbit around the sun.

...when you actually needed to revive a thread which has existed since at least 2005 in various forms.

...when driving to McDonald's takes all night, because instead of just coming home right away, you decide to circle your block for several hours so that "you can land in daylight".

...when approaching the drive-thru at McD's, you slow to a crawl and approach the window at no more than 2 cm per second, and yell out "Capture!" as they hand you your shake and burger.

...when driving around you see a bright light in the sky and try to hit the F9 key to see what it is. (I've actually caught myself doing this!)

... when you see green lines moving around when you close your eyes to try and sleep.

... when you narrate to yourself, out loud, in real time exactly what you're doing in Orbiter at that moment to see if it would sound interesting to someone else. :)

You know you've been developing too much in Orbiter when you've committed Tsiolkovsky's equation to memory!

That is simple.

Things get worse in Orbiter, if you know the vis-visa integral by memory (formula for calculating the orbit velocity from radius).

Things also get worse if you attempt switching the velocity display of your car from ground speed to orbital speed after passing 100 km/h.

And you watch too much NASA TV when you try to clean your room by moving the mess on your floor to the ceiling.

I'm almost guilty of that. I will just let my momentum take me up to drive through windows and try to maneuver so that I am PERFECTLY aligned just like I do in Orbiter!

...when you try to use the numpad in flight simulator to park your aircraft at the gate perfectly (Yes, I did it this morning!)

...when you forget that other games actually have collision detection!

When during a bumpy school bus ride, you start calling out shuttle launch procedures while pretending to be pushed back in your seat by 3Gs

...when you curse your car for not having translation thruster mode while worming into or out of a tight parking space.

...when you're on a ramp changing from an E-W to a N-S freeway and you worry about the delta-V this requires and curse the fact you didn't make this plane-change burn 50 miles before now.

...when you reflexively look up to find the switch to open the door of your car.

...when you try to hit CTRL-I to find out what radio stations are available in the town you're driving through.

...when you reply to this thread

...when you draw up plans to put thrusters on anything
...when you spend 5 hours working on a moon base instead of that big Calculus project! (yes, I'm doing that right now :p)

I am guilty of the following:
- Pressing T to make my computer work faster
- Wishing my car had a translation mode
- Right clicking and scrolling to change the viewing angle in images and videos.
- I can't remember exactly what it was, but I once worried about some aspect of my orbital elements while I was driving on the highway, before I actually thought about the fact that I was firmly on the ground.
