    1:72 Scale Saturn V

Just a tip. I finished the Apollo 10 SLA swap with the "lunar approach" LM-5 Eagle tucked away in there. The IU on the Saturn was stubborn, couldn't remove it from the outside. I very gently applied pressure around the SLA to flex it apart from the IU. Once inside it required a table knife (dull...

Desperate times. I'm guessing the squadrons were suffering such losses and low serviceability rates from damaged aircraft with not enough downings that they tried anything at first. I remember reading it didn't take long for the bomber crews to figure out what they were doing up there and start...

Heinz Knoke's book. It was a field mod using the centerline rack with no sights that the pilots and groundcrews came up with themselves. I suppose they figured that many bombers below bound to hit one then cause a midair reaction.

Yeah it was an air to ground setup, I thought he meant staying with it kamikaze style. Probably couldn't get up that high. I did try level bombing from above with 109's like I read in a book once.

I assume you mean against a bomber formation? If so no. I always liked flying inferior planes against quality, more of a challenge. Flying Tigers P-40B's or F4F's vs Zeros or Finnish Brewster Buffalo's vs MiG's. Great sim indeed.

I used to fly this sim from the beginning. My favorite thing was to lead a schwarm of Bf109G-6's up to attack an unescorted combat box of B-17F's from the early daylight raids say fall 1943. Seeing that formation trailing contrails coming right at you was truly a sight to behold! Best tactic...

The XR2 safely down at Aurora Lunar Base. I switched the Ravenstar default fuel setting to 1 realistic with a full cargo load. Landed on fumes. I had to crossfeed RCS to feed the mains. It's nice to actually get that nervous feeling flying an emergency approach from the safety of your...

    1:72 Scale Saturn V

Mantis, I'm no Saturn V expert, but I'm surprised nobody has pointed out how the fairings for the outboard F-1's are slightly mishaped? Too rounded and not to a point or triangular and too close together at the base, right? It's still very impressive though, I just wish they would have got that...

How about a Strawberry Shortcake Purple Pieman skin for the XR2?! The Purple PMan, being her nemesis then could load the cargo bay up with day old UCGO pies that nobody wants and fly an airstrike and drop them over her magic awesome village! Hugs...Just sayin. :P

I agree. I'm hoping they get the Saturn 1B. That would be something if they release the whole Redstone thru to Saturn series in this scale.

Dragon 1:72 Saturn V. Has anyone else bought this model? If so what do you think? Mine showed up today and it's glorious! LOL. Despite some minor rough spots in the black paint patterns and a few inaccuracies I'm still glad I bought one. The paint issues are easily fixed with an airbrush come...

I assume you installed this without Slat's LC-39 EAFB 2006.3- Hi-Res? If so just try changing the default Canaveral CFG base coordinates from this: Location = -80.675 +28.5208 to Location = -80.672 +28.528 If I remember correctly this will offset the runway slightly unless you use Slat's...

    Question What are you reading?

GEMINI Steps To The Moon by David J. Shayler and Space Shuttle: The History of Developing the National Space Transportation System - The Beginning through STS-50 by Dennis R. Jenkins. This is great book, early concepts from Dr. Sänger, the X-20, and early NASA concepts on through to an...
