Rain, excellent, makes for better bit stops and tyre changes.

Lap 1: SENSATIONAL start as Vettel storms off the live and Renault's Nick Heidfeld goes round the outside to leap from sixth second. Bad news for Lewis Hamilton.

It is raining here and there on track, but most of the field are still on slicks. And if you know anything about this particular racetrack, you'll know that it never rains in Malaysia.

It only ever pours.

Yes, shame about that, he was going well!

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel was in a class of his own as the world champion won a dramatic Malaysian Grand Prix.

McLaren's Jenson Button was second to move up to second in the championship. Renault's Nick Heidfeld was third.

Lewis Hamilton survived a late clash with Ferrari's Fernando Alonso as they disputed thid but a late stop for tyres dropped him to seventh behind Alonso.

Scot Paul di Resta picked up his second point with 10th for Force India behind Michael Schumacher's Mercedes.

Vettel ran a sensible race, handling his tyres well on Sepang's blistering circuit and coping without the Kers power-boost system in the second half of the race.

The German comfortably collected his 12th career win to stretch his championship lead to 24 points.

Nice podium for Heidfeld and I do hope Petrov's backside and lower back are OK after that impact, it was quite some landing when you consider he's sitting on the floor of the car...

Nigel Mansell buggered up his spine with a similar landing at Suzuka in '87 I think, although he landed on a very tall kerb.

Finally a Grand Prix that's at hours that i know exist. Rooted for Webber and he did very well to recover from that poor start.
Thoughts go out to Petrov but did anyone see when the steering wheel broke off it's collum he sort of looked at it then looked up and you could just tell he's thinking "Oh dear''.

Martin Brundle called him the ''Ruderless Russian'' :p

Perhaps it was his way of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Vostok 1, being chucked into the air with no control!

Actually he was comparing him to Nigel Mansell similar incident and hence he's called the British Bulldog, Brundle tried to be funny.
