I use brianj's SolarSailEx all the time. I find solar sailing very fun, so I thought it would be cool if there were more more solar sail designs.
I came up with this simple one. It's just an octagon with 8 attitude panels. I figure having 4 more panels would make oblique rotations easier to control. Using state-of-the-art imaging software, I have rendered the design below.
With the wind force going into the screen, here is:

It's just a design for now. I haven't learned how to use any meshing programs and I don't know C++ yet (though I know C pretty well and I hear that helps), but I would like to develop this further.
