AMSO AMSO for Orbiter 2016 released

Here's an example of what you get by adding a higher resolution tile to the Apollo 15 landing site (attached image). This is from a high sun (no shadows) LROC image.
Adding one tile is relatively simple, yet to be seamless it requires more work. As I mentioned, the possibility to select and export tiles would help much, TileEdit only imports.
But I'll try to figure out a good workflow and see what's possible ;)

How does it look from an EVAs perspective?

Sorry I am a little late for the party but yay!!!! :D

I am looking into this problem. If all goes well I should have something in a few days.
EDIT: Should we have a new thread for terrain visuals development ?

Yes, to avoid non-related AMSO clutter.

Yes because surface textures are not AMSO specific. They will be used by all Orbiter add-ons.

Not much different, to see real detail you have to go a few levels lower.

Here is my first video of Orbiter 2016, using AMSO add-on. By the way, I do not know how to use screen recording in my computer, so I used my smartphone to capture the glorius scene!

Dear all- as a supplementary question :)
Can anyone tell me , in AMSO - if one chooses to do a Full launch mission from scratch - is the whole scenario one big automated run ? Or would the orbinaut be required to push periodically buttons and changes ? Thanks

Here are some high sun textures Level 13 for the Apollo 15 landing site.
Place the texture files inside textures\moon\surf

These are LROC textures, pasted by eye over Orbiter's surface and tone mapped to match as best as possible with the surroundings.
They are rough and experimental, but if AMSO (or anyone else) want's to use them, be my guest.

I have copied pasted the file supplied under moon textures
Works flawlessly - it seems the ‘authentic’ moon surface graphics appear at a particular distance - right ? Not when zoomed too much out or when u hit the ground . It looks fab.

Any gentle reply to my question above re: the full mission of Apollo series from liftoff ? Thanks Guyz.

Yes, the textures will pop-up because I only supplied one level.
This is why a better workflow is needed and a new tool (and specific discussion thread) was talked about.
Both texture sets are authentic, the main difference is shadow angle.

does that solve that elevation issue at different sites ?
Surface only, no changes to elevation tiles.

For Borg - in amso once in EO you need to use LTMFD to perform TLI. Once on Lunar course you need to perform Transposition and docking and mid course corrections. Near moon - you use LTMFD to enter lunar orbit - etc, etc - if you read the read me with AMSO you will see there is lots to do!

Thanks moonheart :)
I should read more careful.

Its an amazing simulator. I love this.

New surf zip with proper illumination and higher detail for the Apollo 12 landing site (includes the previous Apollo 15 also).

Installation and limitations are the same as before. Not perfect but enjoy

This is specially for Barry that wanted to see Snow Man. You can see it now :)
The actual historical landing site is a dark spot, you can identify it from the EVA tracks (also visible).
