Request Artemis landers

Sounds like thrusts are good?
Yes, thrust looks good.
The final hover thrust (just before touchdown) was around 50%, which is a reasonable throttle level.

For information, the braking burn from Lunar orbit in this scneario starts with 40% fuel.
It is assumed, the other 60% are used by the Lander during its TLI burn, Lunar capture and orbit lowering maneuvers.

Touchdown was with 3480 kg (32%) fuel remaining.

Thanks. What about the texture? And Rcs

On the textures:
Currently bigger parts have a coarser texture than the smaller parts. You could adjust this to be more uniform by modifiying the size of the U-V maps. I think this would look more consistent, because the Kapton (gold) foil does not know if it is wrapped around a big or small part.

For the tanks consisting of a cyclindrical body and 2 dished heads, you could combine them into a group and apply the U-V mapping to the group only. This would avoid the texture-jump at the end of the cylinders.

On the RCS:
1. It seems ok.
2. What I do (but this is really only my personal preference), if the RCS looks ok: I reduce the RCS thrust stepwise, until it is just no more ok. That means, if using an autopilot (like prograde) the vessel just over-swings slighty, before it is captured in the correct attitude. This avoids RCS being too strict. I would do this with ~ 80% fuel.

Looks very good!

Textures on the main body look much better now.
Question: Are the same textures used for the small tanks also?
Reason for asking is, these tanks look more sleek (like plastic), while the big-body textures look nice and grainy.

Vessel touchdown points are a bit high now, see screenshot.
RCS still could have less power.

Is there a key command for the HGA?

Thanks. On the HGA it should always be moving. I can add a key to stow it. Basically the dish will be facing down. I haven't textured it yet.
On the tanks I made a .obj and a texture map. It is basically the same. I can try to redo them.
what scn are you using?

Attached is the zip-file with two additional scenarios:
  • MK1landertest in Lunar orbit
  • Mk1landertest at Ukert crater

In the zip-file is also a 'dummy' Moon base named "Ukert".
This provides a base (just a landing spot, no buildings) at the rim of the Ukert crater, near the Moon equator.
This file goes to the Config - Moon - Base folder.

I wonder if I need to add those white struts on the body?

So we get this.
Thanks to @francisdrake for the tanks texture.
CTRL 3 stows HGA
G gear
I adjusted the landing points,...
But when I apply a slight hover and let her drop the landing points seem good. But she starts to slide.

I wonder about the big tanks. I have seen they with white foil and Blue Moon on them. And then there is this. where they are gold foil? And the struts are not covered?

I'd say it is a good idea to wrap the tanks into MLI. Once landed, you can't do things like PTC. Even if the tanks are mostly empty at that point.

Safe bet. Keep in mind that the lander will be torched by the Sun once its there. And the lunar days last 14 Earth days.

Looks good. I'd play a bit with the D3D9 Client 'in-sim' material settings for an optimal result. Metalness shader.

Set a high (not max) 'metalness' value, and play around with 'smoothness' (or 'roughness', same thing, start from mid-range). Even the white paint should have some metalness, 0.4 to 0.6 I'd say.

For the legs, the 'Eagle' LM ones were covered with MLI too. I guess they had their reasons. And don't forget the flag ! 🇺🇸

Yes. Looks like just the top is white. Maybe lower body orange foil, tanks and the rest yellow foil. Legs orange foil
