Hello folks,

I watched some time-lapse video from ISS. I was impressed by atmospheric effects like scattering at twilight time and glass-looking at night time. When sun is at horizon, it scatters as orange. However, I had not seen any effects on flight simulators.

Does anyone have information about formula that generate scattering, refraction and glass-looking effect at night time?

The D3D11 client and OGLA implements some form of Rayleigh scattering.

Ok, I got it. How about airglow at nighttime?

Updates: I now found airglow formula.

I am now figuring how to implement both formulas for atmosphere effects like real world.

Thanks for links. I looked into some information. I found some interesting about ocean simulation, etc.

However, I have another few questions. How to simulate scattering atmosphere at planet Mars? Atmosphere color is very different by comparing with earth atmosphere. How stars appear in sky when sunset went down? When weather balloon rises to 100,000 feet, sky should be black with visible stars.
