Ferrari appear to be back on form after dominating Friday practice at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Italian team struggled at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, finishing nearly a minute behind race-winner Valtteri Bottas' Mercedes.
But Sebastian Vettel headed Charles Leclerc to a one-two in Friday second practice, 0.603 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes.
Leclerc topped the first session from Vettel, nearly a second up on Bottas.

I take all the laps of the race pace simulations that the teams do in the second half of the practice and clear them of non-significative laps (lap times too high compared to the best) and then I do the relevant averages. based on that I also calculate the performance index which is a re-elaboration of both averages and best times and is quite intuitive to have a first touch on how a car is performing.

Eheh in the end I just take my results into a slide. The first I made about one year ago were quite ugly, now I'm getting better at that

Leclerc on pole
A new track record of 1:27.866 from Charles Leclerc, who takes the first pole position of his career.
It's an all-Ferrari front row with Sebastian Vettel alongside him.
Mercedes came first and second in Australia, but Lewis Hamilton starts third with championship leader Valtteri Bottas in fourth.
Max Verstappen gets himself into fifth after a tricky qualifying with Kevin Magnussen in sixth.

Ferrari raced like it looked in Barcelona. Seb will need to look over his shoulder and keep an eye on Mercedes! The midfield is in action and the front is up for grabs. All the makings for an interesting season!

DID YOU SEE THAT RACE! LeClerc got hosed by a MGU-H failure. Seb screwed the pooch (again:uhh, and Renault blows up (again:facepalm. There were exciting midfield battles. Perhaps the Scuderia had the engines turned down in Australia to hide a potential turbo issue? They thought they’d figured it out and ran higher settings FP1-FP3 as a test, only to have the power unit fail in the race. Ferrari’s CEO was there too! No one from Maranello is going to get off easily on this one.

Yes.... and he probably had to turn the engine down mid race.


Leclerc let it slip that the fuel was tight without the SC... was that because of the cylinder issue, or is the engine really thirsty? Maybe that's why they don't do much in the race vs practice/qually and testing...
