Can anyone provide a quick summary of using one vs. the other? Seems some burns use one and some the other. I understand having both active to allow for cross-monitoring, but why not just use PGNS all the time? Thanks.

Missions that use SCS for burns (Apollo 7 and 9 for instance) were to test the SCS. All other mission burns (Apollo 8, and 10-17) were planned to burn with PGNS, with SCS as a followup/backup.

Which burns using one or the other are you referring to?

None in particular, it was something I noticed and I wondered about the inconsistency. Thanks for the reply.
