Science Calling on all orbinauts

Yeah, if we could get the price per person down to around $30, ie;ten people wanting to do it, I'd be interested!

I got that much myself really, so hopefully this little advert may boost interest. :)

Awsome! Now see you non believer's and you sceptics? This is how its done! Even if the project fails, which could be a possibility, we all know space flight is risky, Thats how you do it PennyBlack, you rock! Now lets try to figure out how to accomplish this goal as opposed to not,and proove these people wrong. We want to buy One single sprite for 300$ who is in and, well, who is in?
But I have some serious questions. I want to know with 5$ here and 10$ there who is going to hold the money? Who is going to be the contact that sets this all up? How do we accomplish this goal of 300$ that is fair and honest for everybody? Not only that, but,on his website he says with every 75$ donation you get a sprite for a souvenir. How do we go about deciding who gets one? I think these are very important questions that deserve some consideration. My goal is to keep this fair for everybody,or should I say, as fair as we can make it. I need Ideas,Ideas,Ideas. Now with keeping that in mind I still have to consider buying radio equipment. I will handle that in order for us to track our sprite. After Zac is approoved by nasa and gets a launch date along with the frequencies I should be able to track it for us and keep a steady stream up on livestream for all of us to see together. It will be great! Now lets say we did buy more then one sprite. 2 or more would be considered a fleet and thats cool. BUT! We run into a problem. I will not be able to track multiple sprites. So there is another question we need to figure out. I need some input..and please no PM's I want to keep this out in the open for everybody to see. I want no behind the scenes action...I want to keep this in the open. There will be a point however where if we can all reach a agreement on how this will be handled, eventually there will be PM's with names and addresses in order to exchange private information. Obviously this will have to be done.unless we come up with a way to do this without it. (I don't know of any, just saying) Thats all I got...Need some input from you guys

OK WAIT STOP! HOLD EVERYTHING!
I think I should first check with Orbiter Forums first to make sure what we are doing (on their forums) is ok. I'll get back to you guys
EDIT:1 PM sent to All admins on Orbiter hanger

I want to make sure that I have your guys blessing. Please read this thread. http://orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=24767
Is this ok with you guys? Also if it is ok do you have any advice? I think what we want to do is have Orbiter forums be the one to hold the money and eventually send it off to Zac. Are you guys ok with this?

:tiphat: No need to panic!

I got the Sprite addon working properly now. Stable orbit and MDFs if you press F1. But you are going to get dizzy because I put a spin on it. The OrbiterSDK is amazing. How I didn't think to read anything and thought it was so easy I'll never know. But that's a clue as to why I'm a pedestrian.

The Sprite addon will be my souvenir, irrelivent of whether this works out or not. But I do think one Sprite will do. And beware of rushing out to buy equipement based on only a few interested, almost pennyless participants either. I think the main thing is to find out how many people are onboard first and formost. Time will tell and don't be dissapointed if interest isn't there RS-232. There's always the next one if the deadline passes or Zac hits his deadline before anyone can organise. We got a heads up here.

Right...
I am willing to trust somebody with my donation and would use my verified PayPal account to transfer, but it would take 5-7 days for a transaction as an immediate transphere would cost extra and I'd also need notice to put the money in. I have a transfer window that could be a couple of weeks on my part from the word GO.
I haven't a clue about organisation of this sort of thing so suggest that it isn't me in financial or organisational position. As I've stated before, I'm useless at this and would offer little in way of input.
Support and donation I think I posted. But would advise at this point to wait until people post thier willingness to join. Zac is an enthuiast and is going nowhere and doesn't seem the type to give up. Which is good for us really.

Don't bump it.... thump it.

Idea... Video the Sprite addon and Youtube it. Mail a link to Zac and tell him you'll take it down, if he doesn't do discount.

Penny your are a true inspiration. I like your attitude it is awsome,a great motivator indeed  Lets see what happens. If there is a will, there is a way, right? We will figure something out
EDIT: you know penny? maybe simulating the sprite in Orbiter using the newtonian physics may actually help Zac if you think about it. Maybe if he trys it in orbiter he may see something he had not thought of before. It may be a good idea to shoot him a email. It could possibly help his research who knows. I am not a aerospace engineer but I do know if there are failures it is usualy something that was overlooked staring you right in the face. Your addon may/may not help him. Couldn't hurt to try

Not really RS-232, I enjoy doing stuff like this and the Sprite was my first launch of an orbiting vessel. A personal break through in itself. I hope Zac Manchester doesn't have as many glitches though, but as he is at over $22k now it seems he will be able to ring NASA. He has alot of interest and I wonder how many names in the backers list are from schools and universities, engineering new pioneers. And how many are just back yard casuals.

I don't think he'd learn anything if you posted him a link, but I'm sure as a novelty, he'd enjoy it. Who knows, it may bring new interest to Orbiter from the backers should they see it :)

You have a passion for this RS-232 and it's good to see. I used to watch people fly model planes with what seems to be the same level of passion, reading your posts gives me the same impression. Hang in there and if it gets overly complicated, don't be afraid to go it alone. You can keep us posted here on Earth via a blog on OF.

Always plan for the "worse case scenario" because that scenario could become a reality.
