Hi all!

You may have heard of the public service strikes in South Africa - as a result, there is a shortage of high school textbooks. Mark Homer, a fellow at the Shuttleworth Foundation, has some open-source textbooks (almost) ready to go, but they need a final review before going to the printers for nationwide distribution.

They need people with postgraduate degrees in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry to help out with the reviews.

See the following links for more details & information on how to get involved:

Oh, I see I forgot to mention the urgency: Government basically gave them a week to complete the review, I think they have until something like 1 September.

Useful, free, educational books are always good in my books... wait, that sounds weird.

There seems to be a huge lack of good -proper- educational books on the internet, and in the general public. There seems to be an excess of self published """educational""" e-books that are nothing more than a collection of garbage, and mindless rambling. I am really excited to see see true educational books, on-line like this. I will go trough as much as I can, looking mainly for typos and formatting errors. And yes, I over-used the word education.
