I'm participating at the Flightsim Weekend 2011, here in Switzerland.
It's a small meeting of Flight-Sim interessted people, but as far as I know, I'm the only one with a Space-Flight-Sim.

Maybe I can draw a bit of interest in orbiter there. So I'm trying to prepare an Orbiter Installation (or even multiple installations) for demonstration of the available features and some recommended addons.

I intend to also include ISS and Shuttle Fleet as tribute to the Shuttle era.

Besides most graphical enhancing, my installation includes the classical ships (meanwhile also Altea and Danstephs fleet) and the Apollo addons.

So far, multiple brains are better then one, maybe you have also some suggestions I may add to my installation.

Thanks for all your efforts. :tiphat:

Personally I'd go with existing sites that people would know of (basically Canaveral and Tranquility base). If you're the only one with much space flight knowledge you'll be amazed how little anyone will recognise. Show them stuff they can recognise as then they can relate to that (Apollo/shuttle launch/reeentry and ISS, LM landed on the moon and UMMU EVAs). Once they are hooked you can then show them other things (SCRAM engines, Jovian orbit, voyager model, other vessels landed on moons of other planets etc).

Start it simple with the best graphics/textures/models you can find, then once you have people showing an interest you can move on to more advanced stuff.

You might want to print out some diagrams showing basic orbital mechanics, such as plane changes and altering your periapsis/apoapsis. These are a mystery (and quite interesting) if you don't already know them...

Does anybody have or know some good diagrams mentioned, some kind of a slideshow or similar, to print out a small booklet or so?
Otherwise I will look what I find on the web and create a collage myself.

Smitty's Orbital Operations tutorial, Go play in space, And the orbiter manual all have great clipart ready to pilfer!

Put it all together into a power-point slideshow, and be sure to mention the authors and their websites. They'll be happy!

I poked a bit in "Go Play in Space". As it is a very good tutorial, it lacks of good and easy explainable pictures. But I'll have a look at Smitty's and of course to offical manual (it's a bit embarassing I didn't considered this at first.).

So, this weekend is again this years FlightSim-Weekend in Hergiswil, and I'm participating the 3rd time now.

This time I'm up to show some KSP promo videos, to give interessted people and easyier access to space flight.

KSP is definitely THE best way to bring people to space - the fun way.
It is countless the number of messages that holds the KSP forum about how they discovered space by the Kerbals.
But don't forget the "orbiter" case, because you need it !

If I had to describe it another way I would say that KSP is like Python, where Orbiter is like FORTRAN. KSP is definitely easier to learn than Orbiter, but Orbiter is vastly more powerful in terms of what it can do.
