The SpaceX "Falcon Heavy" launcher with optional Star48BV kick motor, adaptors, etc. Launch scenarios for various test masses and orbits, hypothetical Maven II and SolarProbePlus launches.

Launcher features optional Ascent-to-Orbit autopilot and 1st stage Core/Boosters Auto-Flyback-EDL, etc. Payload "attachment" by editing scenario, or in-sim by payload name input. No Fairing, Dragon adaptor, custom adaptor mesh options by editing .cfg file.

Inc. launch pads SLC40(KSC) and SLC4E(VAFB). Landing Pads and Recovery Barge for booster return.

Installation and operation instructions in Doc/FalconHeavy/ folder.

IMPORTANT - Scenarios for older versions may not be compatible with version 160703.

UPDATE: 09 March 2015 Added Grid-Fins to 1st stages, added 2nd payload attachment point, adjusted landing autopilot, misc.cosmetic changes.

UPDATE: 03 July 2016 Upgraded performance, improved 1st stage landing algorithm, added crossfeed rate setting option, core-only throttling during ascent autopilot, reentry charring  and max-q effects, engine illumination, etc. New scenario parameter format - !OLD SCENARIOS MAY NOT BE COMPATIBLE!

Uh oh.....looks like my aerospace company, the Orbital Access Consortium (OAC), is in deep doo-doo! Our Jarvis rocket series (especially the L, B and E versions, the bread-n-butter versions for this market) surely has zero competitiveness with this smokin' hot monster...... :shifty:

......

...... OK just kidding. But I need to try this ASAP! This is certainly one of my top add-ons that I keep praying that will appear on Orbiter, and well I'm going to lose some sleep trying it! :hailprobe:

Hi, hope you have some fun with it! Probably not as slick or user friendly as the Jarvis - and in fact the Falcon inherited some code from Jarvis(thanks Fred18). It's fun to watch those boosters flying back and landing in tandem though! And 53000kg to LEO ain't bad.

Just tried it out, this is really fun to play with! Seriously, how cool is this shot?

Wow, I picked a good week to get back into Orbiter. I can't wait to try this out.

As always, you never cease to amaze will your skills :-)

I can't even begin to comprehend how you pulled off the coding for all this, but man is it slick!

Thanks!!!!

This is an excellent addon! Very well made, sleek meshes, lots of built-in functionality. Did a few autopilot launches, all flawlessly. Many parameters to play with :) Autopilot is a little wobbly at 10x time acceleration (no complain).

Waching the stages flying back and see them touching down is amazing!
Framerate is high. Care has been taken of details, for example when the payload is jettisoned the focus is passed on.

Great addon! Thanks for your high quality work!

I wanted to say something, but while I was spending time (first hours of many that will follow) with this frickin awesome addon, others writed all I would. So just two worlds: Thank you! :)

I've been waiting for this :)

Here are some pictures from my second test flight (first one was night launch): http://imgur.com/a/tvWkc

Great work again Brian! I was seriously wondering today (after doing a CRS launch): will he also make a Falcon Heavy?

Thank you for this add-on!

Thanks for the kind words and cool screenies  Had a lot of fun making this one. I tried to keep the launcher specs as realistic as possible(as far as I could find out from the internet) so I'll be interested to see how it compares to the real thing if and when we get any numbers from SpaceX regarding the flyback fuel reserves, etc.
Cheers all,
BrianJ

Oh! Interesting - no landing pads in that screenie? The landing pads use a semi-transparent texture to blend with the ground - just wondering if it's causing problems? Should look like this..

Nope, they work fine! It's the new Orbiter Beta I'm using. The terrain is covering them up.

Are you sure? Jarvis E has very similar performances to Falcon Heavy.

Obviously isn't recoverable, but the SpaceX approach, to me, appears as a weird compromise... i don't like it too much (Nothing against this excellant addon!).

BrianJ, if you wouldn't have any idea for next addon, I would suggest BFR (like Falcon-XX from Gliders addon) with both stages reusable :) That would be something! :D

Just a request:
Could someone please publish a scenario example how to include a Dragon capsule (e.g. Donamy's Dragon) to the Falcon? I tried it, but the payload was empty. No crash, no mesh :)

The payload in the dragon's trunk, or the dragon itself is missing ?

The Dragon itself is missing. Probably I do not really understand the concept of payload attachments in the scenario files. Honestly, first I tried to attach a Deltaglider to the Falcon. Didn't work either ...
