Do they test fire an SRB on the pad?? I thought they did that horizontally.
If a rocket were on a launch pad using an attachment point you could sit there a full throttle until you ran out of fuel (or released). You've got to launch off Marsbase Alpha using that method.

SpaceX should hopefully be doing a 3.5 second firing of the Falcon 9 tomorrow.

He's referring to the FRF preformed on every single orbiter before their maiden voyages.

Gotta admit, seeing a shuttle bolted to the pad for 15 seconds while those SSMEs fire feels so... wrong.

:)

Ah, sorry... Bonehead moment, I was multitasking and wound up thinking SRB, not SSME.

I agree.

Strangely, I've seen it in Orbiter before though (not intentionally). From time-to-time when launching the shuttle fleet, I enter ITEM 777 on the MFD then switch to external view and the SSME's ignite, but the boosters do not...

Thanks for sharing those vids Kyle. Hadn't seen them before.

Couldn't you do something similar with Velcro Rockets? For example set up the shuttle stack but set the boosters to have 0 fuel...

Back to my original point. Can I have a. frf scn, or instructions, and a link to the hatch mentioned earlier.

Just tried this with David413's shuttle fleet, as long as you don't take the engines to maximum you can get this effect.

What hatch?

Earth?
Currently that isn't ready for release, I could probably get it ready within a day or two though then I'll just have to upload it to Orbit Hangar.

You can attach anything you like, I've used Universal cargo deck to attach a whole range of engines.
