Gaming Garry's Mod (GMod)

Since the existing topics are too old, i'm creating a new one.
If you have any complaints about the game, be polite when voicing your opinion. We don't want to burn this topic down.(With the lemons)

As you know (or not), GMod/Garry's Mod is a Source based mod for Half-Life 2. It's basically a physics sandbox with promising results in the right hands.*
IMO, it's rather simple to make contraptions and mechanical constructions.

Personally, i'm not too good at constructions. So i stick to funny montages or comics with downloaded models and props.
So, share your thoughts and experiences with the game. Feel free to also post your montages and comics.

Again, i ask you to be polite when voicing your opinions. You won't be any better than the "trolldmins" (Yes, even the staff there are trolls) at FP if you be ignorant and aggressive.
I have observed FP for some time, and seriously, don't go there. Someone posted a question if there was a model for the Star Fox character "Krystal", and seriously, the amount of obscene replies from the forum staff itself was sickening. Never went there anymore since.
I don't know what the user that requested wanted to do with that model, but the staff could be a little bit more friendly and educated.

As you know (or not), GMod/Garry's Mod is a Source based mod for Half-Life 2.

It started as a HL2 mod, but now it's standalone (minus requiring you to already own a source powered game), and you don't even need HL2 at all.

It's one of my favorite Steam games to play just because I love sandbox. I only play single player, downloading like every map and addon possible. I like the WAC helicopters in the Toybox especially.

I play off and on on the serious RP servers. By that, I mean decent ones, I stay away from TnB and all of that other junk.

I used to be on one of the best (imo) post-apoc zombie servers called Necropolis, but it died. Now I'm waiting for a Noir themed RP server to open up soon.

There are some interessting SpaceBuild Addons, where you have to build your own spacecraft with live support and fuel management. Depends on how hard you like it, you also have to harvest ressources on the ground to produce fuel for your space ships.
First you send probes out to space, to test your own RCS design, telemetry and navigation techniques (presumed you've already developted adequate launchers).

It's absolutely recommended to combine SpaceBuild with the WireMod, which allows to wire your constraption up with logical gates, integrated circuits, input / output options (like control-seats / numeric screens), etc.

Sadly, doesn't include keplerian physics, but it's quite fun to start from scratch an invent your own kind of rockets to explore and conquer space.

It's a must have!

I always play on single player, by option and because every server i get in has that purple checkered texture glitch at the map and players.
The WAC helicopters are fun to use at gm_bigcity. I also like use them at big, open-space maps, like gm_valley.

I installed the beta for GMOD 13 "yesterday". Haven't looked into big differences just yet. The backgrounds are way cooler now though.
