Hey guys, I am brand new to the orbiter and even though I don't have a clue yet how to use it I already think its amazing. That being said though can anyone give me an recommendations on how to get started? Learning all the terms and how to get into and maintain an orbit, looking for just the basics here really. I have found the tutorials to leave me with more questions than answers and am currently ready "Go play in space" but is this the best way? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

"Go play in space" is by far the best way, and it's what I recommend every newbie to Orbiter to go read. It will not only explain what to do, but why you should do it, and get into your head the fundamentals of the physics concepts you're working with in Orbiter.

:welcome: to Orbiter-Forum, by the way. :hello:

I have been doing Orbiter about a year now and I feel like I finally have a little clue. So my point is, you must have Patience. You will have to read alot,,,, I mean alot. This is a great forum but before you ask a question try and find the answer in a manuel or you will catch heck. Believe me I still do.

That said start with small ships, get used to the default DG then when your bored with it you know its time to move to the next. The DGIV is a forgiving fun ship to fly.

I agree "Go Play in Space" is a good start, but watch tutorials also. Find them here on the forum site and You Tube. Heres one link, he has lots of easy to follow tutorial missions. http://www.youtube.com/user/thesnorklemonkey#p/u

Have fun, dont get discouraged, and read :)

I'd like to add that the actual Orbiter manual, orbiter.pdf is a fantastic resource that shouldn't be overlooked. While it's best to use Go Play in Space first, the manual is a great reference later on.

EDIT: Oh yeah, :welcome: to the forum! Most of us are willing to help if you need it, just make sure you have actively tried to solve your problem first (mostly by looking in the manual).

Thanks

Thanks guys thats exactly what I was looking for, just wanted to ensure I was on the right track. Figured it best to ask the experienced before investing all my time down the wrong road lol. Thanks again and I look forward to working more off this forum. Take care.
