Hi, posted in now, but almost whole august I spent in USA, in Eclipse Tour 2017. Oh, it was a long and exhaustive journey. We (~ 20 people) arrived in San Francisco. On the way there, beneath the plane, I saw Greenland, Baffin bay with all its ice, Canadian arctic, Alberta mountains, later also majestic volcanoes Rainier, St.Helens, Adams, Hood... and then Bay area.
We enjoyed San Francisco, I was surprised by fog coming from ocean, hiding Golden Gate. In Oakland on Aug 1, I attended Giants at Athletics game (10:4, 4 home runs!) - my first ever US major league visit.
Then we traveled to Yosemite valley, later to Monterrey area, Big Sur.
Next - LA, on Aug 8 we visited JPL in Pasadena, Mount Wilson observatory, and later on the same day I went to Orioles at Angels game! 3 events in one day!
After - San Bernardino to Las Vegas (at one moment being just 40 miles away from Edwards AFB). Played a bit at Tropicana and Excalibur (never been in casino in my country). Lost almost 2 dollars there :) Death valley - 122 F (+50 Celsius)! We were at noon there!
Hoover Dam, then - Flagstaff, Meteor Crater, Grand Canyon, Monument valley... there I took astrophotography images - what a great sky there,
Milky way seen clearly, and small SONY RX100 (with a not so small sensor) did a great job too!
Mid august - Utah (Bryce Canyon), Salt Lake City, seen LDS church's temple there (Tabernacle as well). Swimming (lying still) on the water of Great Salt Lake.
Idaho, great rural views, some smaller towns there (Wieser, etc.)\
Hell's Canyon boat tour.
Oregon... Eclipse! Though cirrus clouds were present, experience was OK.
Washington - LIGO observatory in Hanford...
And on the way back Portland then Crater Lake, and back through northern California. Driving through tree (sequoia) there...
Amazing journey (lasting from Jul 31 through Aug 27).
Thought that many Orbiter fans were somewhere nearby in all these places :)
