Hi there people. Greetings from OZ.
I am a total newb to Orbiter and as yet,I've not been able to get past this screen. Tried different HW configs,compatibility windows 8, different resolutions, and even looked up the problem here in the forum but it seems the problem just fizzles out.
As the instructions state to make sure the program works before applying textures,this is where I'm stuck.I've downloaded everything with the anticipation of it working but I'm having no luck whatsoever.

This is the only log file I could find and an "obsolete API function" which doesn't seem to relate to the graphic problem it states when opening.

I'm running GTX670, i7 3770, 16Gb ram DX12, win10pro 64

Hi Paulgo. Don't worry about that obsolete function comment ... it's in there for developers as a reminder that one day this function may disappear, but for now it's fine.

Regarding your problem - can you confirm you have done a clean install of Orbiter 2016, from a zip download or the MSI install, and you are trying to run orbiter.exe (i.e. not orbiter_ng.exe). If so - do you get to the Orbiter Launchpad? If so, select the Video tab, check the Always Enumerate Video Devices, and try each video selection until you find the one that works for your machine. (E.g. for me, I have multiple video instances enumerated, and it took a while to find the right one).

:welcome: to Orbiter-Fourm, Paulgo! Regarding the 3D device setting in the Video section of the launchpad, normally you will want to set it to "Direct3D T&L HAL", which is the primary video device (i.e., primary monitor) in Windows. I would also test Orbiter in windowed mode before testing full-screen mode.

Seems like I'm in the same boat.
Currently running Win 10 with latest patches
i-7 5820K 16 GB memory GTX 980

I've tried to install it with MSI first, got to loading screen but nothing happens for a while (waited up to 30 min) but only with Win XP 3rd pack compatibility settings. Tried with full screen and window mode, also played with different compatibility settings.
Latest try was ZIP version, same here, different settings, different modes.
Can't even get to loading screen after pressing Lunch orbiter.
