Can someone please post a scenario with a complex, fully working vessel (with COG correct, no drifting when rotating, no overheating, and so on) so that people could take it as example to learn?

I'll do it, though it will take some time for me to get to the computer and to assemble the thing. Please note that IMS development isn't reached the final release stage yet, there are many things to do (and some bugs to fix). Nevertheless it's fully playable.

Yes, you have to (as jedidia expresses it) sensitively build your craft. This part is heavier than the other one? Better place it in line with the CoG & center of thrust. Those two parts are balanced? Good, place them laterally to decrease the length of your interplanetary stack. And yes, you will notice that solar wind can mess with your attitude.

About radiators: check my vessel below, play around a bit. You have abundant radiators for the habitated stage of the vessel (redundant is the better term) which you can deploy depending on whether they're in the vessel's shadow.

The big carrier vessel (the Novara class IMS, remnants of a ship of its own now used as interplanetary stage) has nuclear engines and an ASTG array. There are two radiators for the array (the power unit), and 5 big four-fold radiators: those are for the engines. Each engine gets 2 radiators on its own, and the remaining radiator is assigned both engines.

The Tegetthoff class vessel is designed for operating within the orbit of the target planet. You see two radiators for yet another ASTG array (they're high temperature ones again) and four groups of four low-temperature radiators.
Each module group (Life support plus habitation plus command module / cooling system / hydroponics / antenna plus food plus O2 plus water storages) is assigned a group of low-temp radiators. Those are the ones to be deployed in the vessel shadow, for the sun could heat them up quickly. I chose those groups because of the nominal temperatures of the respective modules.

Finally, the lander module is designed for symmetry along two axis. It's far from perfectly so.

I hope this helps, my most successful craft so far. Been a few weeks and I got lots of scenarios of different completion stages, so forgive me if this scenario is a broken / deadend one - out of many similar.

ATTENTION:
Almost all radiators are to be rotated by 90 degrees - direction does not matter - before integrating! To make the vessel look more reasonable, no radiator should ever radiate towards another radiator, nor module or fuel tank! Check the docking adapters' orientation, too!

Not when I save a scenario of everything integrated, though. Only when I create a new scenario with the "finished vessel" or finalised one, save it, and open it. When I save this scenario again, open it again, yet another multiplication happens.

Laujekas, I want to add that you also need to check the engines' orientation of the lander and orbital stage!

Bug? Or maybe an engine limitation?

Okay, I seem to be running into another bug, or it may just be a limitation of the mod or orbiter.

Currently, I'm building a sizable Cargo/exploration/etc. ship that will transit between the inner and outer planets, as such, I've included a LOT of the Cargo holder modules. That is where the problem seems to be, I've got so many cargo holder modules on it that I need to scroll the control menu down to see them all, and when I try to do that, orbiter CTD's on me; Specifically, the moment I click on the scroll down arrow.

Attached is the orbiter.log, and a scenario to demonstrate the problem; Just Unseal the ship, go to the control menu, and try to scroll down.

The ship is still incomplete, for the record.

I'm afraid it's time to face the truth: I won't get around to finish this for some time. There's no vacation possible until at least march, and even that is doubtful, and even more doubtful if I could get it done within that week.

It's not that I wouldn't have any spare time at all. I even can do a few lines of code every now and then, but finishing a project is a bit of a different matter from just extending it by a few lines of code. It takes a major preoccupation with the code, or you'll just introduce more bugs than you fix. In many ways, finishing takes more concentrated effort than anything else in a project. This preoccupation with the project is what I really can't afford at the moment, because of family, work and relaxation needs. It can be quite relaxing to work on a project in your spare time, but it isn't very relaxing to finish it, and currently I need my sparse free time to actually relax, to be fit for kids and work again.

So there's two basic options:

The first is, we just wait until I get around to it, which will probably be sometime next year, but I can't give any guarantees as to when exactly.

The second is, someone is really itching to take it from here and I release the source code as is. That someone will have a much harder time finishing it than I would, because he will at first be completely unfamiliar with the code. For many Bugs, I would actually know where to look although I might not know what exactly is wrong, but someone putting his head into the thing now will pretty much be jumping into cold water. I would offer assistance in such a case, of course, but that would mostly consist of answering questions concerning the code, not coding myself.

So yeah, there it is... If someone wants to take a shot, give me a call. Otherwise I'll just wait until the time is right, which will not be never, but probably also not any time soon.

Well, the words "I am not worthy" come to mind at the moment, but If noone else more experienced is willing to try, Ill take a look. It would help if you could give a brief description of what makes IMS tick though. I dont yet understand how you managed to make it work within the OrbiterAPI.

Pretty simple: Adding meshes to the current vessel (supported by the API), transforming their animations (tricky if you suck at math), and storing all their data in the main vessel (basically what you do when programming any vessel, just that all the data in this case is highly dynamic). Of course, most of the bugs aren't hidden in that part. They're data handling errors mostly to do with vessel control and saving/loading.

- how exactly does the program eliminate integrated vessels
-how many modules are involved (ie are parts & final vessels run from the same module)

1. By deleting them, quite simply. The mesh and the IMS parameters in the modules config file become a part of the IMS vessel module, the old vessel is completely deleted. The config files will still be called by the IMS module for loading their parameters, but the integrated vessels themselves are not loaded anymore on simulation start.

2. No. The IMS core module handles everything that is integrated. Parts are usually default config file vessels that have IMS specific parameters defined in their configs (these parameters don't have any effect on the unintegrated part whatsoever, as Orbiter doesn't load them. They are loaded by the IMS core module on integration). So, there's really only one module involved. Appart from the booster module, which is a special case, but that seems to be working quite nicely and shouldn't require any more work...

Seems like you finalized your vessel with no permanent docking ports present in the construction. You have to post your scenario here for us to tell for sure. To do so, just open your scenario file in notepad and copypaste it here under CODE tag, no need to attach the file.
