One thing that always struck me about pictures I've seen from LEO is how much light there is. Sure, the unattenuated sunlight illuminates everything a lot, but a good portion of the effect comes not from sunlight, but from light reflecting off the Earth itself. That's why, if you look at pictures of the shuttle cargo bay when it's in a "heads-down" attitude in orbit, you see that most of the light seems to be coming from above and is blueish in hue. Previous versions of Orbiter could not replicate this effect because of there only being one light source allowed - the sun. Now that we have Orbiter 2010P1, with its new local light feature, it strikes me that such a realism-enhancing feature might be implemented as an add-on.

Anyone interested in implementing this?

I believe OGLA client already has this kind of feature implemented as "Earthlight".
